First night I was at a friend's small seafood restaurant. Hubby and I vaped brazenly, but of course I know the owner. I noticed two young people and one older lady paying attention, whispering to each other, but never saying anything. I knew I was being watched so I made sure to visibly lay my e-cig down on the table right after taking a vape. That usually clues people in and for all I know they were talking or thinking about my e-cig and not that I was 'smoking'. A new friend who is a non-smoker and the kind that 'hates' smoke now. Well, he was very impressed by my little contraption and said that even though he detests smoke, this is a great idea to him and it keeps everyone happy. He didn't smell a thing and the vapor didn't bother him in the least. He'd heard of these but not seen one and it made a good impression and at least 6 other people saw one for the first time that night, too. I am glad to see though that I'm encountering people who've at least heard of them and don't have a negative preconception. This guy and another one tonight asked if I was using 'one of those vapor mist thingies'.

Tonight I vaped in a pub that allows smoking (Bailey's for those in the Richmond/Chesterfield area). I learned that more people are really learning about these and most I'm seeing have at least a neutral opinion about them. One woman recently quit a 20 yr habit in May by going cold turkey and then using gum for a few weeks. She works at a hospital and said she has seen these being used a lot since the facilities went all non-smoking. Her attitude was very positive even though she didn't opt to use one herself. However, I did have to correct some misconceptions. She believed they were all nicotine free and we discussed the varying levels depending on the choice of the user and we discussed how many people taper down, end up at 0mg, or just continue to replace nicotine at their current levels but abstaining from smoke. I had to correct one very nice man about nicotine when he thought it was what caused smoking related diseases (he was otherwise pretty smart, too).

Another thing I'm seeing is people who've bought one of the overpriced models and got subpar performance. I was glad to show them my model and explain all the different ones and the varying qualities of suppliers. Most don't know anything about e-liquids, but neither did I till I found this place.:) I'm linking some folks to our forum for the best info and urging them to look here before making any purchases. One of my friends had bought a model for $179.00!

That is the most common thing I hear when I vape, these days.

Used to be, "What on earth is that thing?" Then, "Oh, yes. I've heard of those." Then, "That's one of those electric cigarettes, isn't it?" and now, "I have one of those, but it doesn't work nearly as well as yours! What's that bottle of stuff for?"

Yeah, putting liquid in your cartomizer really gets the attention, doesn't it?
