I'm still a novice at all this, started last December with a Smoove e-cig kit about a month later got a ego battery with some I Clear 16 clearomizers and puffed on that for a few months.Around about March this year I bought an Evic and a Protank 2 mini and then started rebuilding their coils a little while later.Still not entirely off the analogs,I've been a smoker since 1969 but I'm now finally down to 1 ciggy a day from 1 and a half packs to two packs a day from what seemed like forever. My morning cough is gone,my breathing is much better,I just haven't quite been able to get over that last hump of my last ciggy.I do feel that it'll be soon though!

Now for my question...

I'm liking the look of the Kanger Protank 3 Mini but it's a dang duel coil.Question is....can it be rebuilt as a single coil using 32awg Kanthal and cotton?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum.

As to you still smoking one cig a day I must ask WHY????

For me after I got use to vaping, which is a whole other story (flavors mostly), when I did smoke an analog I didn't enjoy it. It took me about 3.5-4 weeks before I could Just Say NO to the analogs. I was even offered one about a week ago and said No Thanks.

So please see if you can forgo that one cigarette a day for a few days, then a week, then a month, then forever.

As to the Mini PT 3. I have 2 of them and have taken a head apart to see what is in it. As pointed out above they seem to be fairly easy to rebuild. I haven't done it yet myself because I've never rebuilt any atomizer until last night. I got a Kayfun Lite + V2 yesterday, wrapped my first coil and wicked with cotton. Everything went well except the wicking. Had to do it over because I didn't use enough cotton on the first try. The coil wrapping went great. Used the Kanthal that came with it, as I'm waiting for the roll of 28g I ordered to show up. Ended up with a 1.6 ohm coil nice and tight, heats from the center out.

Now I'm going to have to buy 30g for the kanger heads and maybe for the Aspire nautilus heads so I can rebuild those. Where does it end.

Thanks and thanks for pointing to your blog, very informative! To me it looks as if the major differance between pt2 and pt3 mini atomizers is the depth of the cup/bowl where the wire sits.As long as I can fit a 2.5 ohm coil in there width wise I'll be pleased as punch.

Thanks for the welcome.
As to why I'm still smoking one ciggy a day,well.....My wife still likes to smoke so I sit with her having our morning coffee and partake in that one morning ciggy. To be honest though, smoking that one cig in the morning lets me know how awful they really are and what I'm not missing throughout the rest of the day,if that makes any sense?

My first roll yer own coil for my pt2 mini wasn't pretty but it worked,I threaded a bit too much cotton yarn in my 2mm. coil and it suffered from too many dry hits.I've since had a bit of practice and now roll 1.6 mm. coils with one strand of the cotton yarn removed before threading the wick,I invert the silicone cup and my coils now work great.Have fun with your Kayfun lite, those atomizers look interesting and more durable that the pro tanks, one day I may have to purchase one.

Once I get the veggie garden planted,I'll be off to our local Vapour shop to get me that PT3 mini, thanks to both of you for the replies!

Yes that does make sense. Basically the same for me after a few weeks of vaping and smoking at the same time. I will never forget the last analog I had. I bummed it from a fellow worker and as I was smoking it I asked myself "What in the hell am I doing. This thing tastes like .... and there is no Vapor/smoke". Not sure if it was the brand, not what I use to smoke, or I had just had enough of cigarettes.

Get your wife off the analogs. I know much harder than it sounds.

If the depth of the cup is an issue with flooding or anything, you can always use an old PT2/Evod head in the PT 3. Once the PT3 dual coil heads were used up in my new PT3s, I just threw some of my rebuilt PT2 heads in there. They're working great.
Spot On ,Leotwyn,
the heads from PT2 (singel coil) can be used!:2cool:

Actually the PT3, mini or whatever, head are basically a single coil even though there are 2 physical coils installed. They are Stacked one on top if the other with a piece of wick in between them, |I|.
The Aero tanks, at least the Mega and newest Aero Mini have a dual coil that crosses, X, creating more surface area exposed to the liquid and have 4 holes in the out side case similar to the heads for the Aspire Nautilus.

PBusardo has change his opinion of the best manufactured tank and head from the Nautilus to the Kanger Aero Tank Mega. I just might buy one of those once the price drops. At over $40 I'd rather buy another Kayfun Lite + V2 clone for less.

Maybe some day I'll buy a REAL Kayfun.

Question...I rebuild all my pt2 heads, they work great when used in my mini Davide. I got a few pt3's when they were on sale last month, just had the first coil go bad so until I can rebuild it (did not order any extra coils cause I thought I could use the ones supplied and my rebuilds...I shoved a pt2 coil in there. The stem is shorter on the 2 than the 3 and I wondered what the effect would be....I got gurgling (sp) and flooding with it to the point where I could not vape it so actually rinsed off the used pt3 head and popped it back in....no problems. Is there anything special I have to do with my rebuilt pt2 heads before putting them in a mini pt3???? (I feel confident the pt3 coil will be fine once rebuilt but my adventure with popping a pt2 head in there wasn't too successful!!!) Any ideas???

I'm using a mini PT3 with mini PT2 heads in it. It works great! I didn't do a thing differently from how I build coils for the PT2. I'll have to compare my heads to check the lengths, but I didn't notice any difference when I took the pt3 heads out and replaced them with pt2s.

Are the pt2 heads that you have very old? I know I have some old heads around that are very short - from back before they changed to one type of head for PTs and Evods. Another thought... are you able to just switch the stems?

I just checked my pt2 and pt3 heads. The stems seem to be the same length. I'm wondering if you have some of the older heads, or if you got pt2s (or at least pt2 heads) that weren't made by Kanger? I tried a couple of cheap pt2 knock-offs, and they did have short stems on the heads.
