I don't know what material it was, but a short TV insert showed a 3D printer "copying" a wrench. It was usable, so not a basic plastic.

While there's a lot of information around on the subject, I don't like to leave a question unanswered. So, it's both, and the thickness of the wick as well. Different thicknesses of resistance wire will have different resistance per inch, so the overall resistance is determined by the actual length of the wire. Best to use a multimeter to get precisely the resistance you want.

The first chart here had it the wrong way around. A thicker wire will have a smaller resistance, so it would need more length.

mrelwood, thanks for noticing! You are completely right on the last quote. Woody

Yay got mine in the mail today!!! Didn't do a wash just pulled out the fill hole screw and filled it up. I don't have syringes but I just dripped on the fill hole and it just fell right thru:):) Yay cause I don't like needles. Had to fiddle with the OEM wick n coil but seems to be ok so far. I'm just leaving the fill hole screw out since it seems to wick better that way and no leakage. I had it drip off the end of the wick instead of the fill hole so no leaking:) Here are some pics I took: It's on my Tele mod from madvapes and I put the Bolt and SB next for size comparison.

Ok what's everyone getting for an ohm reading on their Griffin? Mine is showing 1.4 on my ProVari, my first couple of vapes were great with it set at 3.7, but after that it was tasting burnt, I turned it way down but it still tastes yuck...I'm thinking that it's not wicking up the juice, am I supposed to leave the fill screw off? If so, then why does it have one? I'm a RBA dummy, so bear with me.

Im getting about 1.3 -1.2 ohm reading on my Griffin. Seems like I have to give her a little tilt to keep the wick nice and wet. I'm using a 50/50 juice mix. If it's getting red and hot real quick and not keeping up with you, try the fill screw out, see if that helps. It might also be a short somewhere. Mine was getting red at first, so I moved the coils around a little with a flat head and seems ok for now:) I hope the wick can keep up with how much I wanna vape on this now;)

there are two screws that come with this item one for the fill one for the coil hold down. the other hole is for the wick.
check the tin and check the packaging perhaps it was lose?

also someone said they did not get an allen key, I checked all the tins before sending to make sure all the visible parts were accounted for, it too a long time to do and I wasn't drunk :)

The allen key is in the same packaging as the Griffin (unlike the extra coil), it's easy to miss or throw out if you open it excitedly. :(

Ok, I removed the fill screw, and still not thrilled--yes it does seem to get red and hot relatively quickly, I'll try moving the coils around a bit, the top one looks pretty close to the one next to it...I appreciate everyone posting their troubleshooting tips in here, some of the other threads that have been going on for months are pretty hard to follow.

Also, don't leave the tin sitting on the end table where the puppy will steal it and run off with the packaging, I had to rescue my Griffin from the jaws of death before I even sat down with my coffee to look at it!

Hey I just seen this on a buy in bulk site and they are calling it **** The Griffin **** ta da. Way to go Eric, I tell you I like saving money, take the DV ( Phoenix Clone ) it works every bit as good as it's "name band" counter part and is made with the same material. Can't wait to see whats next for us at DISCOUNTVAPERS.COM.

Gas stove will oxidize your coil well, turn it red red hot then run under cold paper towel dry, repeat several times and your good to go.

Your coil only should glow "evenly" when fired until it gets a good cake on it then it will diminish unless it you crank it up .
There should be no hot legs and if so it could be to loosely wrapped and or have a short.

One not used to these type coil/wicks can also use a small piece of non resistance silver wire on the ends to wrap around posts.
Also here seems to explain mesh size and how they wick etc.
