Well , I am a single father and my son is two years old. Before he was born my apartment was raided while I worked the night shift lucky me they didn't take the guns. I used to go camping till a lot of the stuff was stolen .

So when my son was born I realized ..... I wasn't prepared for situations like natural disasters , or burglars , and or man made disasters.. I have started to prepare myself for any situations and being able to keep my son safe and fed.

I have been putting together a bug out bag for worst case scenario , and I ordered flint rod and steel blanks because I want to personalize it but making the handle . I also fool around with making pistol grips I just haven't had time to finish the last one I started.

These puppies are real handy! Bought a couple and a few days later (go figure) we had a big wind storm that knocked out the electric power for about 48 hrs.

These made a big difference!

Super rugged .. well made!

I was really impressed, got it on sale - said "what the hell, this is earthquake country ... couldn't hurt".

Where do you do your hunting? My son in Albq goes into Colo. a lot I think. He is big on bow hunting, but has hunting rifles also. A while back I gave him a 4mm mag rifle my brother had given to me, that he had made the stock for himself.

I wish I could go hunting , I moved to Ct like 2 years ago but refuse to pay 80$ for a licence , I used to hunt in north Carolina but only had the chance to go a few times before the move happened.

I would like to learn bow hunting but I enjoy my 12g , would like a nice open area to use my rifle

My brother bow hunts every year. Mostly cause he gets to start a couple of weeks before all the nuts with guns do.

I will be happy to say safety is more important then making a kill. I just think Ct is a little over the top for the price to hunt,
After getting Ct safety class and licence ur looking at over 400 and that's to steep

In Nc I belive I paid less then 40

I'm still here on ECF... sort of. ;)

You would love it here... The tags are a little pricey around $50 or so to get the basic ones (deer, elk and more), and a few dollars more if you want moose and bear and stuff like that. But it is well worth it! The hubby got all his rifle tags this season, but didn't even bother, he has decided to just focus on bo hunting. Not only does the season start early, but that is when you are most likely to get a good elk because they are in the rut!

I'm in the Shake Town area as well, vZ. Now I'll know where to go in case of a no light situation. We can vape in the dark!

Suddenly, I find myself looking forward to the next Big One!
