hello everyone, I came across this forum when searching for a issue I have been having with my e-cig. about a year ago now I purchased a x-fire e-fire e-cigarate and have used it every now and then. I loved and still do using it. but I had always found it very very hard to draw from. from reading.. I noticed its supposed to be a relativly easy to draw from tank ( it comes with a KangerTech protank 2 ) but somehow mine seems very very heavy.. after some fiddeling with it.., I noticed that if I unscrewed the wick/tank connector a little bit it became progressivly easier to draw from.., till the point it would be to loose to make a proper connection to the battery.

I have always wondered if there was something I was doing wrongly.. or something else that could be the cause of the complete cut of the airflow..

some testing has confirmed that the airflow of the tube itself if unconnected is completely free.., it seems to be blocked by the battery connector. wich doesnt have any wiggle room so to say to loosen it up to anything decently.. as a matter of fact it all seems to be designed to be screwed in place pretty snug.

Rather than backing off the head, try backing off the entire protank just a wee bit from the battery. You shouldn't be cranking it down hard but barely snug. This may leave a bit of room for the air to come up through the connector as there are air flow holes built into it.
that is indeed exactly as I had done.., turning the entire tank ( so the tank " straw " wick holder and the little tube the wicks are attached to ) this works to a certain point.., meaning im able to draw some air from it ( when its snug its like theres no air flow at all ) but the tank quickly becomes to loose and wiggly.. I find myself loosing contact with the battery before I can easily draw from it.. . even though I consider myself to be a " heavy drawer "

Your going to have to get dirty now.. Remove the coil head out of the base and flip it over and you'll see a chrome pin on the bottom. Pull that pin out a ioda with your fingernails and pull the rubber thing the pin sits in down also. What your doing is tightening too hard and squished that rubber thing thus restricting airflow and your realigning the pin and rubber to open the airway. Its a common PT problem. Youtube "protank tight draw" and see a few vids explaining better than I did.

EDIT.... if your planning on using that protank you should get a kanger airflow adapter and that issue of tight draw is solved and gone.

thanks.., that did help a lot.., It was so squished in that it was nearly completely covering the air holes the wicks are placed in.. after moving the little rubber ring the air flow is much improved
If you like the PT Mini 2, you could always try to find and Aerotank Mini base/airflow regulator,

Kanger Airflow Control 2.0 - Mini

This makes the airflow not tiny pin holes but a larger hole that can be adjusted by twisting just the regulator on the base of the tank

I will surely look into getting one of those for my country ( im in the netherlands ) would you perhaps know of reputable e-shops to get gear for it.. and.. also maybe other recomandations you could give this now re-newed e-smoker? ^^ .

I remember the launch of the Kanger Protank 1. What a day! What a let down. :(
Then, Kanger released the Protank 2 and we all rushed to buy that in the hope that Kanger had fixed the epic 'black hole' draw of the first version. Well, they had, and created a super-tight monstrous piece of terrible vape hardware. The juice flow was so bad you could burn out a coil in a few hours. The draw was unacceptable and the whole thing was an epic fail. New vapers were being sold these by the thousands in vaping stores and coming back for their next pack of 5 coils (expense) in the blink of an eye. Bad times.
The Protank 3 was the work of Satan, offering almost no vapor unless you had a proper 'mod' e-cig. People were actually pretending this was sophisticated vaping on an eGo battery. I've seen more vapor from a disposable.
Basically, they are all dinosaurs best left buried under rocks.

However, many of us (me included) rebuilt the atomizers on the Protank 2 and purchased the after-market airflow controller. Those two things turned the Protank 2 into a super-nice, cheap to run and good to vape tank.

Funny how the vape community fixed what were essentially 3 fairly bad products from Kanger.

My wife and I vaped protanks for a couple years, great atty to learn how to build on. I did it all from drilling the holes in the base bigger and drilling the pin some to try to get better airflow. Those adapters are a godsend and gave the PT a new life. I drilled those out also. We have since moved onto better but those protanks set the stage for my coil building today so my wife and I are enjoying a top shelf vape experience.

I like the mini PT2 just fine as it is (or at least only upgraded with cotton wicking). Flavor isn't as good as a standard EVOD but it looks great and doesn't crack (mine's nearly 3 years old). Both can do things with about 5.2 watts that leave almost everything else seeming tasteless by comparison (especially the PT3). The airholes do really like to clog with pocket lint and gunk, though.

I've heard of the tightness to the battery being used to adjust airflow before, although I don't know if it's intentional. One way to slightly increase airflow, if you insist, is to use a 510-ego adapter with a hole in the middle.
