Introduction: New Vaper!

Hey everybody!

Just wanted to become apart of this amazing community. A little bit about me: I'm a 22 year old college student from Washington State and as of today am on my 2 week anniversary of quitting cigs. I honestly never thought of this being possible, I've been a 1-2 pack-a-day smoker, consistently, for about the last 5 years (which I know for many others isn't a long time, but far to long for me). My family history is full of smokers, most of them dying of cancer/smoking related illnesses and I knew I needed to quit ASAP, and wow am I amazed with vaping so far. I have tried in the past, patches/gum never worked and the only e-cigs I ever tried were disposables and I hated them. About a month ago I started talking with some friends and classmates that vaped, so I researched basically everyday and gave it a shot. Not a SINGLE craving or cig since 6 PM, February 6th! I'm so amazing, I picked up the nautilus Mini Premium Kit at my local B&M and it's worked great. :)

Now... I've sprung a bit and just purchased the following set-up (as a reward to myself for quitting, and as I thoroughly enjoy all electrical components that go into vaping): A Subtank Mini (with 5 heads), a Sigelei 100W Plus, 2 Efest 30A IMR 18650 battery's, a plethora of e-juice as well as some misc accessories for rebuilding including some 26 AWG Kenthal, which I can use for practicing on my subtank RBA portion, organic cotton etc. I am currently enrolled in school for Electrical Technology, so I am very aware of Ohm's Law (I have every formula memorized), I also have my own Fluke meters (high-end), but I'm just curious about some tips/pointers for getting into rebuildable's from other people's perspective as well as battery's.

I just had a few questions about my set-up:

1) I purchased my Battery's from Amazon, and have been reading a ton about fakes and everything, what should I do about it when they get here if they are and will it harm any part of my set-up if they are?

2) What is your personal perspective of my set-up? (Until I get more into RBA's more)

3) What would be a good "beginner's" RBA (I used that word loosely)? I've been looking at getting either a Dark Horse v2 or Mutation X v3

4) What are some personal tips or tricks for a set-up like mine, or in general? Any advice is welcomed and appreciated!

Thanks to all community members, I've been lurking for some time and have learned a lot from different guides and tutorials on this site and can't wait to see where this journey takes me, and thank you for your replies!

Happy Vaping my friends! ~ Andrew :vapor:

Hello NoCancer and welcome to the forum. After 43 years of smoking a PAD I was also able to quit by vaping. I use the Istick with Nauti mini and I love it!

Yeah that's a lot more impressive than me! Congratulations, that's amazing! My uncle had just got diagnosed with COPD, he's been smoking since he was 8 and he's about 60 now and is only smoking more. Both of my grandparents passed from lung cancer and now I just need to hopefully convince my dad to give it up. Not an easy task, many people are stuck in their ways after that long but I have my hopes!

Hi NoCancer,

Welcome to ECF! I've smoked for almost 46 years. Got cancer a while back and beat it so far (finger's crossed). It's good that you're stopping now -- smart move. You'll really like the folks here. This is a very helpful place and you can get lots of answers about vaping. I started out using a Joyego twist and Kanger EVOD (both *starter* kits). Since I'm still relatively new here I know very little about set-ups (I'm still learning about that part). Hang tight though -- someone will pop in and comment about your set-up in no time.

Welcome aboard and take care :)
