I could not find an introduction sub-topic or any place mentioning where to make one, so I hope I am not out of bounds doing it here.

Just started vaping 3 days ago....tried to quit smoking many times over the years....and even after quitting for 3 years (at one point), not one day went by that I didn't want a smoke....

I can say that at no point in the last 2 days have I even considered lighting up a cigg.

Honestly the government and or helth care providers should subsidize the vape market....I think the money saved on smoking related illness would easily make up the minimal costs of helping people quit

I went a bit overboard and bought just about every item in my local suppliers inventory (including juices)....still haven't found the ideal setup yet, but I see the few hundred dollars spent as possibly the most valuable investment I have ever made....an investment in my health

I will do everything in my power to spread the word and educate my friends and family on this amazing alternative to smoking....

I am glad to see my filthy habit go up in smoke....errrr vapor...:vapor:

Congratulations on 3 days, and welcome to the ECF! What have you settled on (for the time being! Ha.) and what's your favorite juice? You're right....you're investing in your health...no matter what it costs. The spending will eventually settle down...probably. LOL

if I listed it all I would be a bit ashamed, but I basically got a full 510 setup (with all the accessories and extra parts), and the same in an EGO setup....passthroughs and PCC's for both....and then I went ahead and got a full mixing kit and bases and measurement tools and what not....I tried blending some of my own this afternoon....with absolutely terrible results....

I am lucky to have the vapure main office about 3 miles from my house....so I got everything from them.....looks like I got decent prices on it all as well....especially considering no shipping and no wait time (which would have lead to me smoking tobacco)....they seem to be a distributor for many products (not just vapure)....I have been using their juices....

I think I will write up some proper impressions once I break in all the gear, and know for sure that I am using it correctly....but so far the majority of the flavors have been mediocre (at best)....I think this has more to do with my ignorance and lack of experience than the products....

I am going to order some more stuff next week I think, and am going to try and DIY some boxes this weekend (I have some experience in electronics and microcontroller/subsystem design)

I think the thing that will most likely suit my needs the best, will have to be built from scratch....but as you said, it's all an investment in my health...and I am having fun with it (so far)

so far I am liking the ego passthrough on 510 atty....I replaced the cart filler with some cut up tea bag strips....still on the fence about that....the ego tank setup is nice...but a little more flavor and a little less throat hit than i would like....

maybe I will get everything out and make a full list, and you guys could recommend some nice combos....I sure would appreciate it

I also found a cool app for the iPHONE called ejuice....it's a blending calc and recipe list...it also links a lot of suppliers and what not....I am sure most folks already know about it (it's free)

Something I like a LOT, and I just got around to trying them in the last month or so, are the 2.0 ohm BOGE cartomizers on my eGo batteries. Blew me away. I've been vaping for 7 months, and these are the best cartos I've ever tried. I got mine at Joye eGo | Joye 510 | Electronic Cigarette supplies | Batteries, atomizers, cartomizers, e-Liquid and more!. Just a suggestion if you're looking for some options.

Also, I guess you know that places like Mad Vapes sell DIY parts and kits and stuff...

yes I did see the stuff on madvapes.com.....it's way overpriced (IMO)....thankfully I have a lot of tools and parts to built these devices already....and I have a plethora of electronics distributors within spitting distance....I have some really nice commercial grade LI-ion LiPO chargers as well....so it should be easy to assemble something for very little....the project box and led/switch parts would be the most expensive items...

I think I can make something totally safe and professional looking (my uncle happens to be in aerospace tooling) for next to nothing ($30 or so)....I am wondering why no one is experimenting with 12v coils....12v DC is what model railroad systems run off of, and the parts and regulators are super cheap.....I could probably slap something together with variable voltage and air flow....even better, you could use an Arduino and basic Java scripts to build a device that could be programmed via a USB port, and a simple software interface....you could actually program fluid injection rates into a variable DC coil....then store all of that on a cheap eprom...wouldn't it be cool to have a selection of voltages and flow rates (small blower) on a few push buttons, that could be changed easily via software....man talk about getting ahead of myself....hah.....

Ha. I think these forums are going to be your new playground! LOL Have you been to the modders forum yet?

just briefly....I should go check it out some more....others are probably already doing what i have in mind....I am going to try the cartomizers tomorrow.....bunch of folks have already suggest them to me....

I'm an engineer by nature, and by trade....so I wind up building most of my tech toys from scratch.....it's really an awful habit *snickers*

thanks to everyone, I appreciate the support....

had a really negative reaction this morning....actually stayed home in bed.....I failed to drink enough fluids yesterday and woke up feeling more de-hydrated than I can ever recall.....

my own fault, but can anyone recommend any tips on how to avoid this again....? Aside from the obvious (drink lots of water)

I know that the 100% vg is supposed to dehydrate you a bit, but wow.....

It's weird, because this is the first time I have had this issue.....then again yesterday was the first time I started using my ego-tank.....

probably vaped about 1 1/2 tanks and maybe 3 regular 510 carts yesterday.....is that an abnormal amount? again please excuse my ignorance....not knocking this thing at all....I would rather be dehydrated than smoking....water is cheap and easy
