I was searching earlier for where to find the charger for the new ipv4... Well after a trip to the biggest big box of them all (not going to namedrop) and some research, I found both the wall outlet and car charger that works for it, each for less than $20.00. I was elated... I don't like having to carry my 4-battery charger around, and frankly even when its not inconvenient I forget it. So now with a car charger for my ipv I don't ever have to worry about being "dead". I'll post pictures below of the chargers, but both are PowerLine Multi-Use AC Adapters with 7 charging tips to choose from, one labeled "home" and the other "mobile". Both also have a USB port as well which is awesome for in the car so you can charge your phone as well. There is a little red light above the charging port that is lit when it is charging. My batteries went from completely dead to 3/4 full with 30 minutes hooked up to the car adapter.

Many ppl are saying do not use the onboard charger period. There have been some issues with overheating and burning. Takeyour batteries out. I know p4u says if you use a charger it must b 2A or lower. Some ppl are going as far as removing the onboard chrger entirely from device because it has had serious failures even when not charging. There is a psa on ecf somewhere. I dont know how to link it here...

Thanks for the info!!! I thought the issues were with the IPV 3 and that they had ironed them out before the 4.

The problem with the baord doesnt seem to be the board itself, More likely the issue of the board and the bottom of the 510 making contact with each other.
either way looks like I'm going to have to crack it open when I get it and either insulate or remove the board... never done anything like that before but it doesnt seem too hard.

It is very simple. I took a look at mine and it already has a piece of white tape insulator on it. There is plenty of space between the board and the 510. you can always just remove it and get a 3.5mm dust plug for it. A simple piece of electrical tape over the board where the 510 sits over it should do just fine.

The black tape option seems easiest. Maybe I should check It occasionally to make sure it stays in place. I'll still be charging batts externally.
