I recently bought an ipv 4 and a set of Samsung 25r batteries. Whenever the battery drops past 80% or so it does not let me fire past 55 watts without getting the "check bat" issue. The batteries have never been separated while charging or in use. The batteries are 3 days old, it is very frustrating because I am using a quad build in my mutation x running at .2 ohms and it's useless less than 60 watts. The amp rating is up to par and it was my understanding that since the ipv runs off the chip not directly the battery that the level of battery should not affect the amount of watts I can vape at and it is also my understanding that each battery is 4.2 volts making a total volt rating of 8.4 how is this happening

its doing that because the available voltage/amperage isnt enuf to keep up with the load...
the chip requires a specific amount of current/voltage to supply the demands you request of it.
a quad build requires alot of current to heat up all that metal and unfortunately the chip is trying to pull all it can from the batteries but the batteries cant source that amount... therefore the chip sez check battery

Actually, the VTC5's are 20 amp batteries just like the Samsun 25R's. You will want to get VTC4's or Orbtronic SX30's (which are rewrapped VTC4's). They are 30 amp batteries. When I was using the IPV4, I used a married pair of Orbtronic SX30's with it. When I PIF'ed the IPV4, I passed on the same pair of batteries to the new owner.

What this guy said! Check Mooch's blog post for a very helpful breakdown of 18650 batteries

    They might have been VTC4's at some time, but unfortunately not anymore. See these photos of the tops of the VTC4 and SX30 I've tested:

    Here's a test of the SX30 Flat Top done recently:

    dunno the answer but I see according to steamengine, ipv4 sweet spot is 0.345 ohms

    Scratch that... was going to suggest the Purple EFest batteries for the IPV ... but then I seen IPV4. I rock the purple EFEST batteries in my IPV3-LI and have had no issues with it. I know a handful of people that rock the same batteries in their IPV4 though and report no issues. Maybe try that? If all else fails point at the chip for problems. Something on the board might be faulty. 80% is an awfully lot of battery power remaining to be crapping errors like that.

    And the one time I did have an issue was when I was running in TC mode. The battery indicator bugged out on me pre-update, was showing about 1/2 battery life remaining and telling me CHECK BATTERY. I removed both, allowed the batteries to rest a sec, slapped them back into the mod, powered it back up, and BANG! Battery indicator showed proper battery levels - empty. Popped em on the Digi charger and found out that both were at about 3.12V remaining on them. Granted these babies are approaching a year old, but they still rock some vape ....

    maybe that's the problem; maybe the ipv4 is reporting battery voltage not battery charge;

    80% of 4.2 volts is 3.4 volts

    The iPV4 will run your batteries down to a flat 3 volts and still show about 25% on the indicator. At least mine does. You should charge them when the indicator shows about half charge, maybe just a lil less. When you run them below about 3.4V, you run the risk of shortening their life. This could be the problem if you have run them completely flat in the past.

    When I had the IPV4, it never ran the batteries that low. If I ran the batteries down until I get the low battery warning and the mod won't fire and plugged the batteries in, it would show 3.2 volts.

    I have a set of 25rs in rotation through my ipv4 and have never had the check battery with 80% showing. I typically pull them and charge when the indicator is about 50% i vape between 80-100w all day.
    But what kind of build are you running and what rda? Some people have reported this problem with the mutation
