Noob question here but, how on my ipv mini 2 "70"W it says the max output of the device is roughly 8.5V but the input voltage only up to 4.5V and all batteries I have found run a nominal Voltage of 3.7V. It's a single battery regulated mod I'm just curious if there is some feature that basically cuts the voltage in half to make it safe to "crank up" the wattage. I just wanna ask before I do. Oh and I'm running an authentic mxjo 2500mah 30A 3.7V 18650. My builds currently are looming in the .25 to .65ohm range.

Hello and welcome to the forum zachtaylorinc. Glad to have you here!:)

Basically the chip in your vv/vw mod takes in power from the battery and stores it in a capacitor. When the stored energy reaches the potential (voltage) it dumps out to the atty. It is safe to crank up the voltage/wattage.

DC Boost Converter
Buck-Boost Converter

A good example of this would be a dimmer switch.
