is 2.5 amp overkill?

If you're talking about a wall or car adapter a 2.5 amp is fine. Your PT will only draw as much as it needs anyway. It's better to have extra capacity than not enough.

careful using the new dual coil cartomizers. I'm pulling almost 3 amps through the darwin on these things at 4.5 volts. They are technically LR (1.5 ohm), but you can slam mad power through them and they don't burn.

On a real pass-through, standard advice is to use 2.5 ohm or higher cartos or atties, if you have a 2 amp supply. If you have a 2.5 amp supply (if it can really drive 2.5A on a single output, vs. maybe 2.5A across 2 or 4 outputs), then you could go as low as around 2 ohms.

Standard advice doesn't apply to the dual coil ones. Vape them at 3 volts, or take them to 8. Whatever you like, just remember they are technically rated at 1.5 ohms total, so that will kick the circuit protection in a lot of stuff if you go over 4 volts. (3.7 on provari, 4.5 on darwin, never on GGTS because there is no protection) might blow a 2.5 amp addapter also if you go 5 volts.
