Is 5V ideal vaping with dual coils?

I've fallen in love with modding. I've found the dual coil cartos and they won my attention. I've built my first flashlight mod form a 18650 flashlight $15.60 - UniqueFire A10-B Cree Q5 WC 5-Mode 240-Lumen White LED Flashlight with Strap (1*18650) - 18650 Cree Flashlights, tactile switch Tactile Switch with Round actuator, 300g. with IRL3103 mosfet, an LED from a 3AAA flashlight and a connector from a Riva. I have parts for other multi-battery mods. I'm on the fence about which circuits to use. I'm hoping for learned, experienced opinions on whether to build 5V mods next or break down and buy the extra stuff for VV mods. My electrical ingenuity is basic, but my GF's son is an electrical engineer, so I have someone to assist my tech-tardedness.

My real question is this: With the dual coil cartos, is it really necessary to go VV for that extra bit of adjustability, or will 5V produce the fluffy puffs of vapor without burn taste. My batteries come off the charger, hot @ 4.2V and the dual coils are doing really well :vapor:. I switch em out when I get right down to 3.7, because the vapor/flavor production just isn't as prominent than the fresh, hotter battery. I guess a constant 5V would be even more productive with stacked batteries. This is speculation on my part, because I've only vaped ego/Riva and my flashlight mod up to 4.2V. Opinions? How's 5V do for you? Would you want VV instead?

I'm using mine on my 5V resisted GLV2 with great success. My GLV uses two 3.7V AW cr123 batts. I have noticed that the flavor drops way off, when the batteries get close to being fully discharged but it comes right back to life with a fresh set and NO BURNING:) I also use V4L blank coolcarts. I can get about 40 drops in them and am good for about 2.5 hours of vaping(usually go through 3-4 of these cartos before having to change batteries). With the dual coil I can get about 60 drops in and 3.5 hrs of vaping before needing to refill. I still think the flavor is better with the coolcarts but it's nice to get an extra hour of vaping. There's always a tradeoff though. 5 volts burns through the juice very fast. I don't think they could build a big enough carto to match my longest lasting setup, to date, which is an Elegant Easy with an Nhaler jumbo or Ikenvape mega, filled with an intense flavor like TV's A/C. It's good to go for 10 hours of moderate vaping without having to change the batt or refill/topoff the carto!

Thanks, 6! This is promising. I only have one box that I could squish a VV into right now, but will most definitely go 5V on my AAA lighters. Maybe just start small with a 5v reg, MOSFET, tactile, LED to get my feet more wet than my flashlight.

Here she is..

Six, are you leaving those 5v Batts on the charger for a long long time, you must leave them on the charger even after the light turns Green, much longer.!

I leave them on for about 10 hours. These dual coils drain them fast. My 6.0v (pair of lifepo4 123a's) give me around 5 hours of fairly steady vaping. The 5.0v electronicstix batts are going about 3.5 hours.

Does this apply to all 5V batts? I'm using an Ultrafire charger to charge my 3.7V AW cr123's. It usually takes 2-3 hrs for lights to turn green and I take them right off because I thought I read in the instructions that you don't want to overcharge them (don't remember---can't find them) Please educate me if I'm mistaken, oh great mwa;)

No. The electronicstix 5.0v batt is a custom batt about the size of an 18650 (17mm diameter though). It uses a custom charger and behaves differently on the charger than other batts do. I really like them, but the dual coils suck them dry faster than I'd like. -- I shouldn't complain. It really just means I need to buy a couple more.

Aite! Quit jackin my thread, y'all! this is about 5V or VV, not about how to charge a battery. Thank you for your cooperation. =)

You could use the batts we're talking about in that flashlight mod (awesome looking, by the way) and then your thread is back on track.

Thanks for the suggestion and getting it back to my thread lol! I'll be keeping this first mod @ 3.7. I'll do a pair of or 3 10440s in a 4AAA box and I have the AAA lighters for "lil sis-type" mods, too. Just waiting on China mail *drums fingers on desk*

This thread is to help sway me to just regulators or the VV circuit kits. Now and down the road. I know the VV circuit from MV won't go into the lighters. Maybe the AAA box will hold it, but I may sacrifice the 3rd battery for space to accommodate the circuit.
