Is all menthol like Vicks vapor rub?

I come from smoking Marlb menthols, so I am looking for a nice cooling menthol vape to take its spot. I just got a sample pack in today from Bluemist, I ordered the Robacco Menthol and Robacco menthol extra flavor (both 80/20 16mg).

Out of the two, the extra flavor one tastes much better and has a better hit to it. The only problem is that the menthol is like a vicks vapor rub kind of menthol, and that is not at all like analog menthols IMO.

So for those out there who vape a lot of menthol flavors, are they all going to be like this? I am not a fan of the vicks vapor rub kind of menthol. I am not into the minty stuff either. I just want a cool hit to the throat without it having that vicks twang to it.

Also on a slightly related note, is there any juices out there that aren't sweet? Of all the ones I have tried so far, even those not supposed to be sweet, all have a distinct sweetness (almost fruity). Is this a product of PG? Coming from analogs I am not used to sweetness, and am finding it hard to drop the habit when everything I vape tastes so sweet.

Ideally for a analog menthol is a nice dry roasted flavor that isn't sweet/fruity at all that also has a nice cooling effect as well. I am starting to think there is nothing out there capable of delivering this.

I've only tried about 4 menthols so far 3 from Halo and 1 from mad vapes. I was a menthol smoker too and know what you mean about not being the same menthol. The best one I think so far is the Menthol Ice from Halo, its smooth and the vapor rub scent isn't that huge. I also like the Cool Mist from them it is pretty tasty. The True Pure has a strong vic's taste to it though. I have only one menthol from mad vapes to compare it too so far and its not bad, its called Minthol. The mint flavor covers the vics taste up pretty much, just wish it had a bit more mint flavor though.

Got another menthol coming from provapes, it seems they use an outside company for the liquids not sure which, but I put some in my order when I ordered my provari and it should be coming soon. So ill have that to compare also. Went crazy ordering a lot the last 2 weeks, got to wait until Friday to get some more money lol. New to all this but I figured I'll go all in with it since it got me off regular cigs so fast.

But I would give Halo a try the methol ice is good, use it as my all day carto but rotate in some other flavors to keep the palet excited. Going to order some Malibu Menthol from them since I like most of the juice so far.

The best menthol I've had was a bottle of straight menthol from Vapor Bomb. It was clean, crisp, and cool. It stayed in my atties forever though so I quit using it and gave it to a friend. I don't see it on their list anymore so maybe it's discontinued.

I was a MM smoker as well, and I really like the Robacco menthol with the extra flavor shot. But it is not for you, fair enough. Have you tried their Hypermint? I have some but haven't tried it yet to post my review here (unfortunately I apparantly forgot to change the nic from 0 to, well not zero! so therefore I am saving it for when I cut my nic down). I hear the Hypermint is fabulous though so might be worth a look.

I started out with all menthol flavors since I was a MM smoker, but have mostly moved on. BMV's vanilla mint, is man, so ... good I can't leave it alone. It's like a slightly menthol/mint flavor with some chocolate milk and a shot of vanilla extract undertones. I don't know that it will be what you are looking for, being a strict menthol seeker. But I had to say it.

Yeah not a fan of sweet minty things, as I was a green pack smoker, not blue pack. Robacco menthol (reg or extra flavor) is nothing even remotely close to a MM analog, even the menthol sensation is infinitely different. I just need a dry roasted (perhaps slightly nutty) non-sweet non-minty flavor with a kick of menthol cooling effect that doesn't taste like vicks vapor rub.

I only hope all e-juice isn't inherently sweet, otherwise this isn't going to get me away from analogs. The sweetness (in taste and especially aroma) from the e-juice I have tried so far is almost sickening. And the nicotine is probably close to the bottom of importance to me, as I can vape 24mg for several hours straight but still crave a analog. I know it isn't the the other alkaloids either as snus does nothing for me (still need a analog after one of those). So that just leaves the flavor and how the smoke/menthol hits my throat.

Just makes me wonder if all the e-juice vendors are so detached from what analogs actually tasted like that they can't come up with something similar enough because they forgot what it was like.

But either way thanks for the suggestions, I may have to try something different to see if it is what works for me. Maybe I will be surprised and like something that I didn't think I would like.

Their Artic Ice is excellent. I use it alone or mix it. Vapor Station Frost is also good.

I was a menthol smoker as well, and my experience with most menthol juices has been the same, strange Vick's taste. I have since discovered I prefer a peppermint vape. Most have some amount of sweetness but thats okay for me (got a bit of a sweet tooth). I have noticed that I was initially trying to replicate the analog experience but over time have come to appreciate the variety of flavors available to us as vapers and cannot stand the smell of 'smoke' anymore.

Of course everyone is different, but I suspect you will eventually move away from chasing the smoking experience as vaping becomes more second nature to you.

If you want a great menthol,like you did with Marb Menth, give Vapors etc a try. I was a 2PAD for 20yrs and it has been my prefered vape. I go all out with the extreme menthol from them.

Python-- if you want to add that cool tingle feeling without any flavor, you can try Koolada. Perfumers Apprentice - Koolada 10% (PG)

When I was doing my own flavors, i added that to peppermint to give that extra cool kick but you could add it to any flavor just to give that coolness.

Coming at this from a totally different angle...
I was not a menthol smoker and I've been pretty surprised by my tastes in vaping.

1) I never found a tobacco that I really fell in love with and pretty much gave up on them.
2) I discovered that I really like sweet menthol flavors - Angel Food Frost, Stawberry frost and Mango Ice are my favorites
3) 2/3 of those come from Spring Vapor. I love his menthol flavor. Cool effect without a medicine aftertaste.
4) I took a few pulls of the new Black Label 555 from Spring Vapor before it was released and it was the most cig-like thing I have ever tasted that wasn't actually burning. Very accurate taste.

So, my suggestion is to contact Nik at Spring Vapor and see if he can he do a menthol/frost 555 for you. Seriously, I had previously given up on tobacco flavors but this 555 really has me reconsidering that choice. The 555 has very nice smokey, nutty flavor with a very distinct throat hit. I didn't get any sweetness from it.

Thanks for the additional suggestions everybody, definitely some excellent tips! (especially about the 555 black label not being sweet but having a nutty smoky flavor and the menthol with no taste but has a cooling effect!)

Will definitely be checking out the Black label 555 though, sounds very promising.

Also here a brief follow up to my list of samples. I got my Puresmoker samples in today, I got Silver Leaf Menthol, Peach Menthol and Minthia. So far I have only tried the SLM.

Of all the menthol tobacco flavors I have tried thus far, the SLM is the better of them, still not what I want as it still has the vicks vapor rub menthol taste. But it is slightly more 'smokey' flavored, less sweet (not by much) and less vicks vapor rubby compared to Bluemists Robacco menthol. It also has a stronger TH (likely due to the 24mg nic, as BM's was only 16mg). They are pretty close from what I can tell, but I enjoy vaping the SLM more. In fact the SLM has kept me off analogs all day today! (probably largely because I completely ran out of analogs, but still its an improvement). I've already sucked down at least 2ml (out of 6) so far.

Not sure about the Minthia, probably super vicks vapor rub if its the same menthol they use in the SLM, but the peach smells excellent from the bottle, smells just like peaches (actually smells like Yoplait peach yogurt, which I really enjoy) and it doesn't smell like some strange artificial cold medicine flavor like the fruit samples I got from VR. I'll be trying the peach menthol later tonight, would be funny is that is the one that truly works for me. I am very impressed at how naturally peachy it smells from the bottle, I can only hope it tastes as good.

Well I just loaded up my peach menthol from Puresmoke and gave it a go, I must say so far this is the BEST tasting (ie least offensive) e-juice I have tried so far. The taste is almost a perfect replica of Yoplait peach yogurt, it even has a 'creamy' effect/texture/taste in my mouth, which is simply amazing.

Also to my surprise the vapor rub menthol is really diminished, either that or I am just getting used to it. I think that is because the menthol is pretty weak in comparison to the SLM (not necessarily a bad thing with this flavor). The vapor rub menthol taste is still present, sure, but it is masked/blended so well that it is not offensive to me like with my other menthol blends. For whatever reason, it just works.

Also the flavor doesn't taste artificial like other juice flavors I have tried, strangely enough it tastes almost naturally flavored. Another note about this flavor is that it is not harsh in the least, and I got a 2.4% nic level sample! On inhale and exhale there is no harsh over or undertone flavor or harsh TH in the least (no cheese grater exhale here). This e-juice is astoundingly SMOOTH and creamy.

I think this picture pretty much sums up the flavor of this e-juice to the T (with a slight touch of menthol of course)

However it is not all peaches and cream (yes, bad pun ). While the flavor is astounding and the menthol is nice and not over-barring, what this juice lacks is kick. Not much TH going on here, and while the flavor is delicious, it could use a bit more peach flavoring. If there was a slight bit more peach flavoring this would be very close to perfect.


Oh and another strange thing is that of all the e-juices I have had, this is the least sweet! And I like that a lot! I will continue to vape this for the rest of the night, but as it stands now I could easily see this becoming a major part in my vaping rotation (maybe not an ADV, but VERY close) and will likely buy a nice 30ml bottle.

Not sure if anybody even reads this thread, but I figure its a good place to put my thoughts down in case somebody in the future searches and finds the information useful.

I got some more samples in today, this time from Liberty Flights. As mentioned previously, I did not like their version of the menthol blend, it tasted weird and smelled even worse. So I went out on a limb and got various 5ml samples (all 18mg except for flavor arts one, since that is just flavor).

All 100% PG:
Usa Mix
Highway
Red Energy (Red Bull flavor)
Menthol
and Flavor Arts Arctic Menthol.


I would go into further detail of the smells of all these (red energy smells just like the real thing!), but since this thread is mainly a menthol related thread I will continue on that thought. The menthol flavor smells almost exactly like my menthol blend flavor from LF, disgusting, just less potent. The arctic Menthol smells just like the other vicks vapor rub menthol's I have tried (so probably no good).

However on a limb I decided to try out the USA mix with no menthol, and I have to say I actually like it a lot. Basically a smokey flavor with a subtle nutty (peanutty) finish. NO sweet at all, VERY NICE! And the smell from the bottle is almost undetectable, nothing overpowering at all. Really the only hint of smell I picked up from the bottle was a very slight nutty smell (compared to the extreme nutty smell coming from Highway, USA mix is almost undetectable).

What is the morel of this story? Well, as a menthol smoker I obviously wanted a menthol impact, but after trying a straight tobacco mix I find myself pleasantly surprised. I am thinking at this point I may not even need menthol in my vaping diet to curb the analog cravings. If I can find a nice unscented and no-taste menthol that only has the cooling effect without the vapor rub smell/taste, I will try mixing it with some straight tobacco flavors to see how it fares out.

I also ordered some Backwoods Backo as well, and since I have been so pleasantly surprised with the taste and quality of the USA mix from LF, I can only imagine how good the BWB Backo will taste! These two tobacco flavors might be the perfect base for me to mix with a ideal menthol.

Now I only wished I had a better delivery system cause constantly topping off the carts after 5-6 puffs is annoying.

Hi, I think what u should do
is stick with reg. tabacco juices. But u can purchase menthol drops which I add to all my juices. Also someone else here mentioned koolada, both oh theses will give u a nice cooling Vape and also will give u a nice throat hit. I know u can get both of these at DIY store that is on the list of vendors on this forum. Give it a try an I think u will be pleasantly surprised.

I like Minthol from Madvapes. It's similar to a Lifesavers Cryst-O-Mint flavor and is a good alternative to tobaco vapes when you want something different. Most of the menthol flavors I've tried reminded me of mothballs.
