Excellent link. Thank you Java_Az for providing it. That is probably the first news type video I've seen that had a positive slant on eCigs, and pointed out that their are powerful interests - tobacco companies and taxing agencies - that have a financial stake in limiting ecig availability and use.

Your Welcome , but i don't feel right taking the credit. It was posted in the news section of the forum. But since the OP on this thread was talking about a doctor and the news show had one on there i thought it related. Here is the Thread i found it on http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-cigarette-news/121535-e-cigs-good-day-atlanta-morning-positive-press.html

Your Welcome ,

I did like at the end how he was saying Tobacco company lobbyist and the taxes are why we are seeing the FDA and states trying to jump on E-cigs. I been saying that for awhile

I liked that part too! E-cigarettes won't get kids to start smoking because as we here all know, it's not SMOKE!!! I have two boys ages 11 and 12, if they wanted to start vaping when they're 18, I would rather them do that than pick up the habit of smoking. I don't know if my boys ever will smoke/vape. I do talk openly with them about smoking, how hard it is to quit the habit and they both say they'll never start smoking. However, I used to say the same thing when I was a kid after watching my parents smoke for years, and look at me, I've been at it for 21 years now. They've seen their father and I both go through nic fits, we don't hide that from them. We want them to see what nicotine does to a person and we want them to be educated about it so they can make wise decisions.

The FDA claims they found four carcinogens. Carcinogens are bad.
A little context would help here.

They found four different nitrosamines, which are carcinogens.
These nitrosamines come from the extraction of nicotine from tobacco.

They are also found in smoking cessation products in approximately the same amounts.
And of course they are also found in real cigarettes, but in much, much, much higher amounts.
Somewhere on the order of 1500 times more in real cigarettes actually.
Along with more than 35 additional carcinogens as well.

The amount of them they found in the juice, however, is so low as to be virtually harmless.

And while these things were found in the liquid, unless I am mistaken they were not found in the vapor.
And that would be an extremely important distinction to make as well.

Here's a list of those carcinogens:
Ah thanks for the correction, it appears I read it wrong.
:)

Linked report said:
Whole Cartridge: Tobacco Specific Impurities by GC-MS and GC-MS/MS
Nicotine was detected in both products in all cartridges including samples identified as containing no nicotine. Samples were screened for possible tobacco specific impurities: cotinine, nicotine-N-oxide, nornicotine, anatabine, anabasine, pseudooxynicotine, myosmine, β-nicotyrine, and 1-methyl-3-nicotinoylpyrrolidine (MNP). Nicotine-N-oxide, nornicotine, anatabine, pseudooxynicotine and MNP were not observed in any of the samples. Results from cotinine, anabasine, myosmine, and β-nicotyrine are shown in Table 1.

I will go edit my post, since I copy and paste it all the time, so next time it will be more accurate.

It sounds as though the doctor is very uninformed, and cardiac docs are one of the hardest to convince of anything unless it comes from a published medical journal.
That is an awesome interview!
The only thing I am currently concerned with is when I have gone to my doctors my systolic rate (the top number on the blood pressure) is higher than I have seen it. Now, granted and given, I have just come in from walking several blocks in the Austin, Tx heat and that could very well be the source of it. It does go down after I have been there a while, is that due to not having vaped in a while, or I am cooled off from the walk more? I dunno. I plan on pursuing this a little further, maybe get a pressure cuff and do some testing. I know BP should go up with nicotine usage, it's a vasoconstrictor. If this is the source, I think with the gradual backing off of the Nic I have been doing anyway will resolve this.

What I do know is this. I feel better than I have in 20 years. I can breathe. I can walk farther and recover faster. My sugar is down. I don't have to take as many pills as I was before. My thyroid is in process of readjustment to a lower dosage. I don't have to take as many pain pills. I have lost weight (I have zero intentions of looking for or trying to find it, either!). I don't stink. My teeth are whiter, and my cat likes me. And this is all in two months of NOT SMOKING! I haven't found a detriment yet.

Nicotine is the culprit in raising your B/P but I bet the heat didn't help much. I know at least one MD who would love to have his wife vape instead of smoke, and he is very pleased that I quit as well. I know as a former smoker my choices haven't always been the best but this one I'm very comfortable with. By the way same doc HATES Chantix. It effects the neurons in the brain and we all know that's not a good deal.

Tried Chantix - 3 times - slow learner but desperate. I did not smoke much because I could not do much but be a veggie on the couch. Too tired (Chantixed) to do anything for the whole time I was taking it and cutting the tablets (after the first try) in half because if I did not do that I could not get out of bed and move to the couch. Sucked bad.
Tried all the others also - no one here needs the list ..
