Is Gplat wire unsafe?

I saw from the youtube videos that the Gplat wires are softer and easier to wrap comparing to the kanthal wires. However, they are much more expensive and more importantly, I read somewhere that Gplat contains magnesium which can be toxic to inhale. Is that the case? Thanks guys.

Gplat is dirt cheap just don't buy it from them. It's common welding wire and can be bought other places, don't think it's unsafe but haven't looked into it as I have too much Kanthal and am happy with it.

There is a lot of opinion and, from what I have seen, few verifiable facts. That I know, the manufacturer continues to refuse to provide a complete list of what's in it or an MSDS, so we are all guessing.

Personally I get everything I need using Kanthal, so my choice is to stick to that - but only you can decide if the risk (or lack of) is worth it to you.

Yeah I am still pretty new to vaping so I just wanted to try every new toy, mods, rtas, rdas, wires, etc, lol, but for that price and the health concern, I will stick to kanthal wire until it's proven innocent.

100ft of a1 kanthal for around $5-10 from temco, what is there to complain about that an you are unlike to use it all up any time in the near future

I'm a certified welder and I have bought gplat wire. I also bought a spool of 317L stainless steel wire (gplat). Its completely safe. The magnesium burns off at melting point which is way way higher than any coil will get to when you cape. The only difference between 317L and gplat iis it has been heat treated to make it a lil more Maliable. Besides that their the same.

Also. Ever since o started building and vaping with 317L /gplat I have never looked back. I think kanthal is far inferior of a product compared to it. The faster heating and cooling of it is awesome and the lower ohms too. Among other reason. This is mmy opinion and it works best for me. Not nenecessarily best for everyone

Google 317L wire, can't help you because where I could get it wouldn't help an American.

Don't think that's the right wire, but even if it was it's got flux in it and I wouldn't want to vape flux.

More to the point, how do we know its composition is the same if they won't release this information?

They don't want to tell you it's 317L wire because they are laughing about the 10000 times mark up they have and idiots buying it.

OH someone posted on redit the tests they had run to get the chemical composition that's how they know it's 317L.

I use the 316l without any problems whatsoever and was tipped off on it by another member right here in the forums lol, at first I was skeptical but overall I am very happy with it and there are ALOT of places to get the 316l as opposed to the 317l (this is just IMO) and even online jewelry shops carry it, I just make sure I verify that it is surgical grade 316l and wash the strand I cut off with dawn and hot water (just in case, I hate the taste of machine oil and probably not good for you lol) the only problem is I can only seem to find it in 26ga, 24ga and then 20ga, 18ga and 16ga which irritates me because me go to is always 22ga but oh well, I have been making due with the 24ga just fine and rocking it at .13 currently
