Is it my tastebuds...?

About two weeks after I quit smoking analogs and started vaping (this all happened on the same day), I had the pleasure of vaping a wonderful vanilla flavored carto that was given to me as a sample. It was SO good!

That flavor kept nagging at me until finally last week I ordered some of the Premium Vanilla cartos. I could hardly wait to rip that package open when it arrived and vape myself into clouds of Vanilla ecstacy.

And then reality set in....

They taste, um, well, they taste strange on one hand, and bland on the other hand. They are not at all what I expected. I have been vaping them all day to see if maybe I just needed some time to wrap my tastebuds around them properly, but honestly, they taste like dry cleaning fluid or something to me. They don't even smell the same--but then again, when I vaped that glorious sample, my sense of smell likely had not gone back to normal after having quit the analogs.

See, I can't figure out if my tastebuds just had not yet become "normal" back when I tried that sample, or if there is something "off" about the flavor in the new Premiums. This is what happens when your body has been lied to for over 38 years of analog smoking--nothing tastes nor smells the same as what I have become accustomed to for all those years.

Has anyone else tried the Premium Vanilla cartos? Do they taste like you expected? Do they taste the same as the Regular Vanilla cartos? What about the Regular French Vanilla and Premium French Vanilla? Is there more flavor in those, and if your experience was with the Premium French Vanilla was it the flavor that you expected?

My craving for a wonderful Vanilla is still strong as ever--finding an outlet for quenching it is going to be an arduous task, methinks!

Oh kindred Vanilla-phile I hate to say it but to me the Premium Vanilla was exactly what I expected it to be. Just like the old cartos but with more oomph. This is coming from someone who hasn't like a flavour (CMF) on the premo cartos as well.

To see if it's the cartos that is changing the flavour on you, empty one of the premo cartos and refill an old carto with it. I did this with CMF and surprise the old flavour was in fact there.

If this is the case, you may just have to do what I've been doing with CMF: saving all my old cartos for this flavour.

Can't say that I've compared regular and premium Vanilla. There is NO French Vanilla premium YET to compare........doggonitall anyway! Tis one of my faves and I can't wait....

I just didn't get an overwhelming flavor at all with the Premium Vanilla--there was no "oomph."

That is why I said that it was sort of bland, and maybe had an undertone of dry cleaning fluid (whatever the heck THAT tastes like--LOL).

I liked the premium vanilla..I thought it had lots of flavor..vanilla flavor that is!

Well, I finally put down my XL, brushed my teeth and went to sleep for a couple hours. Chronic insomnia woke me up a few minutes ago.

I grabbed my wonderful XL with a Premium Vanilla carto and am now convinced that it is my tastebuds that are messed up--it is definitely a vanilla flavor that I am getting, and NOT some strange dry cleaning fluid that I kept sensing.

Maybe I shouldn't try out my newly arrived cartos until I have a fresh palate--in other words, no vaping of other flavors beforehand. Other flavors on the palate can definitely distort newly vaped flavors.

That being said, I am still going to try out that French Vanilla--it sounds luciously delicious!

I can tell you what NOT to vape before trying vanilla..MINT or Menthols! I love them..but they give everything else a weird flavor!

It must have been the menthol, then, MaryKay. Silly me, I should have known this from previous experiences. I vaped some menthol prior to trying out a Hilton sample that I received and quickly put it down--it tasted really strange to me, too. I tried the Hilton again a few days later and liked it. I just couldn't seem to figure out the Vanilla problem--I do tend to have brain lapses sometimes, though--completely forgot that I had been vaping menthol before I got the Vanilla in the mail today.

I was a full flavor menthol smoker for over 38 years and even though I never liked non-menthol analogs, I am finding that I do like some of the tobacco flavors.

It truly must have to do with the tastebud changes that my body is undergoing.

I drained and flushed 'em. Definitely ... not my favorite.
