Is it normal for all flavors but one to smell disgusting all of a sudden?

I've been vaping a new juice for two days. I really enjoyed it so I stuck with it.

I tried one of my older favorite flavors earlier today, it tasted awful. So, I went back to my new juice. No big deal, I just figured I'd try it again later.

I just refilled my husband's cartomizers and every one of his flavors, some of them my own favorites, smelled absolutely vile. I then popped open some of my other favorite bottles, and took a whiff, and omg they were all awful. I usually love the smells as I'm going through the refill process.

My new juice still tastes like gold. Is this normal?? Please tell me it's temporary. How long will I be dealing with this? If it'll be a while, I'll need a bigger bottle of the new stuff.

Did you make sure to shake them before smelling or using them?

Most flavors benefit by sitting for days or weeks so they change and while they change your tastebuds and smell receptors are also changing as they come back to life.

Something you like today may be disgusting in a few weeks, it depends totally on the person.

I did shake the bottles I was using for his refills. Those should have been mixed well. The others I just opened and sniffed.

Yeah, my senses of smell and taste have been getting a lot stronger lately. I just kind of miss the old tastes. I tried puffing on his stuff, and it was just like it smelled. He says it smells/tastes fine, and thinks I've lost my mind.

At least this flavor is available locally so no waiting till god-knows-when for shipping if I need more.

I see your ECF join date is Feb 2013, so I assume you (and also your hubby) are fairly new vapers. If this is correct, yes, taste can and will change over time. Especially if you smoked before starting to vape; your sense of smell is coming back and that will really change the way things taste to you.

After vaping for about ten months I have at least three PV's with different juices going at once that I alternate between. I do that because if I don't, I stop tasting the flavor of the one I vape for too long. I know this is not exactly what you are experiencing, but I think it is kinda the same thing.

As Kagey said, juice also 'steeps' over time, which basically means the flavor change or mature. In my experience I've found it is not a significant change in a few days. In any case, that could certainly be part of the issue.

No. Your sense of taste will improve after you quit smoking and most flavored e-cig juices will taste vile at that point.

I smoked for 45 years so my senses were seriously degraded!
I went thru so many flavors when I started vaping it was ridiculous. My senses of taste/smell seemed to change at least once a week until I reached the 2 month stage. After then it was a gradual change for the better.
About 3 months ago I finally settled on an all day vape that I still use today, and I still can't stand the flavors I started with.
Sad but true (I now do not like the smell/taste of coffee).

Thank you all so much for the input. And you're correct, Ryedan, I've been vaping for two and a half weeks.

Now I just wish I hadn't stocked up so much. Maybe at some point they'll taste good again. Hopefully my hubby doesn't lose his taste for them, too.

I don't like the smell of coffee so much either. I still drink some but not like I did.

If you've only been in for a couple of weeks, tastebuds will vary. Like the others said, the juice you can taste at first may seem worse over time.

Also, some juices may have an effect on tastebuds kind of like a cranberries and milk effect.

Add female hormones on top of your improving sense of taste & smell, and the rollercoaster ride becomes even more unpredictable.....I remember the days when salt was my problem. Some days even the slightest amount would nearly blow my head off, while other days, I couldn't taste it if I used half a shaker, and that's when I was smoking. Made dinners interesting for my poor husband. What you're experiencing is perfectly normal.

Oh yeah...what's really gonna bake your noodle is when it all tastes good again...then it all tastes bad...then some good some bad. Most of the juices I started with are dead to me now...in storage at the back of the fridge waiting for the zombie apocalypse or something. It took me 3-4 months to negotiate a truce between my taste buds, sense of smell, and the voices in my head....but we're doing much better now. Stick with it and don't overstock on juices until you settle.

That's actually one of my usual favorites that is not tasting good right now. I love the waffle flavor. Well, loveD.



And it's not the atty, I was tasting them in various cartomizers. I know the cartos are good, just filled them yesterday (from blank).

I just wanted to update you all. I think I might have figured it out.

I started out with 100% PG Dekang, and vaped only this for the first two weeks. The new juice, the one that was still tasting good when I posted the OP, was my only PG/VG mix, a 50/50 blue raspberry. After vaping this for two days, not a single one of my old juices was at all appealing. So on a hunch, I picked up some more 50/50 flavors today. OMG. They all taste amazing. I also picked up a bottle of unflavored 100% VG and mixed it with my 100% PG Waffle flavor, and it was suddenly the same waffle flavor that I knew and loved!! It didn't even really lose much flavor, I had been worried about washing it out. So my old bottles aren't a complete waste!!

The PG had really been screwing with me, so I wonder if my body got to the point where I can smell it and it makes me feel ill? It's fine mixed, but I just can't do 100%. Anyhow, I'm just happy I have more than one flavor to vape again!!

Ooh, and as an added bonus, my Bobas and Hype came in today. I've gone from flavor hell to flavor heaven.
