AFAIK, they're only a couple dollars more than a regular eGo battery. I don't own one, yet. But, it IS essentially an eGo battery with a USB connector, allowing you to vape while it's charging, unless I'm mistaken. So, how would you replace the battery?

Then again, maybe I misunderstood and you're talking about something entirely different than what I'm thinking.

It was looking to me like a +$10 premium. Which arguably could be totally worth it, if you could repair the thing if it breaks. The reliablity I've been seeing for ecig batteries is ridiculously poor. I've been smoking these things for barely a couple months and my third battery died the other day. I cut one of em apart and determined the fix would have been trivial it the thing could have been taken apart. 6-12$ a piece and they can last as little as a couple of weeks. How can an industry survive like this?

I can only say that QC (or lack of) is an issue I've encountered as well. I've received several batteries which were DOA. The company I bought them from gave me a make-good offer ... sent them back at my expense for exchange, and they're throw some freebies in the bag to cover my postage. Doesn't cover the inconvenience though. There's definitely room for improvement.

But, as to your original question: I don't see how it could be done, sorry to say. If it craps out within the warranty period, get an exchange. If it lives a normal expectancy ... who's to complain? You just buy another one. Batteries and atomizers are consumables. They don't last forever, and you should take that into account. Always have spares on hand, because there's no way to tell when something is going to go belly up.

I thought someone who owns an eGo PT would've chimed in by now. But, again, it is essentially a battery, and they don't last forever.

No there is no easy way to replace the battery. They are not made to be replaced. Going to be pretty hard to do Without cuttting it open and re soldering a new one it. They you would need a new tube. So yeah it can be done but not really worth the effort. As far as i know only Mods have the option of replacing the batteries. Might want to look into getting one of those if battery replacement is a feature you really want.

Are we talking about eGo batteries or e-cig batteries in general? If you are talking eGo batteries, then that failure rate is excessive IMO. That being said, if they are eGo batteries it does seem that the battery longevity of the "5 packs" is indeed questionable. I have only had one batt out of 4 conk out on me (eGo) after 5 months and to me that was good mileage. The other 3 are still performing but after 7 months their days could be numbered and something that is indeed to be expected.

I love my eGos and my solution in moving away from proprietary batts was inspired by Mamu http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ego-variable-voltage-switching-regulator.html plug and play with all replaceable parts. If we discount shipping the unit cost less than one proprietary eGo batt.

The actual batteries seem to be. the ones in the 510 i cut open are shaped like a standard aaa except thinner. Slide style contacts and everything. An auto battery is a brass fitting pressed into a stainless steel enclosure containing from bottom to top: a self contained plastic air pressure switch with circuit board, a standard lithium battery, power regulator and timing board with led light, and glued on plastic cap.

That's better materials and far more electronics than even a maglight. it wouldn't surprise me if 80% of cost was the case.

actually I have opened them. The top part is just glued on and the better inside is about the size of a AA. You could actually open it, take out their battery and then wire in positive and negative conenctors on each side then just throw in a rechargable li-ion and push the cap back on. Then you can use the usb and replace the battery whenever you want.
