Is it the Atty or the Juice?

Hi to All, I just graduated from an eGo C Twist to a MechMod called Spark and it came with a Patriot atty. I am happy with how I build my coils, I have practiced, believe me! I just don't get the wonderful taste from all the different juices I have ordered. I have ordered some 'concentrated juice" to mix my own but I truly wonder if it's worth the savings and convenience of mixing at home. Now I see "Acrolein" and "Aldehydes" and WOW! What the crap is that! Someone tell me please! Where is the good juice to be found? Must you buy the expensive stuff to be happy AND safe?

It mostly comes down to your build and wicking, as you're the one in control of the vape with a mech mod. Some juices vapes better at say 13w whilst others 20w+ So one could say that's one of the downsides with a mech, you can't change the wattage on the go for diffrent juices.

Edit: Also some juice brands tastes better than others. And if the juice is newly made it would require a steeping time. So try leave it for 1-2 weeks and then try it again. :)

As far as safety of the juices, noone doesn't realy know for sure. The juice makers claim x is safe but in the end it has showed high amounts of diacetyl for example. (still less than a cigarette so i don't care personally.)

Acrolein is only made when the coil reaches to high temperatures afaik, i could be wrong on that. Was quite some time ago i read about the acrolein.
To be realy safe with the juices you'd be best of making your own juice. Then you know exactly which flavoring you've in your juice. Or vape flavorless (pure pg/vg blends)

Here you can read about all the studies DR farsalinos have done for the vaping community. Such as safety and acrolein you wonder about.

But in the end, vaping isn't entirely safe. It's just a way safer and better alternative for smoking.

It really is better than smoking, I agree. I already feel so much better. I liked the eGo at first but the taste isn't really there so I moved on to a MMod. I think I will try mixing my own juice, I don't have the nic in it, I am at zero. I just hope the mixers I'm buying are safe enough. I will read up on this, it's all very new to me. I just quit smoking this Feb.

Welcome! :)
Yea there's quite alot to read and learn at the start but it's realy interesting. (imo :p)
Amazing that you're able to vape 0 nic already, i'm still on 12mg in my tanks and 3/6mg in rda. :)

If you're realy worried about what you vape, avoid buttery flavors and custards. Most of them are known to have high diacetyl values.

Also since you're new and i assume new to mech mods aswell. I recommend you to read baditudes bloggs about battery safety and ohms law.

if you graduated from an egoc twist to a mech with an rda, my guess is you changed from 5 watts to 50 watts and a whole lot has changed.

First thing I'd want to know is what wattage are you vaping at
I have vaped at .7 ohms up to 1.8 ohms and I don't know what the wattage is. The best is at .9 with some juices and still some are not so full of flavor. The lower ohms are too strong for me, I like flavor. I am also about to get my KBOX in the mail and it might make it easier since it will adjust wattage itself. I still think the juices are messing with me, I need to pick a fav and get to know my mmod and KBOX and adjust accordingly with other flavors. Too many have me thrown off a bit.

the trouble is
when you vape at higher wattage, the same juice tastes different.

Hi, Thanks, I will read this. So far I have been careful and I have bought only the 18650's that are the high drain, rechargeable, 35 amps. I always check the ohms with a multimeter too, staying above .4 for safety and it's just too harsh subbing that low for me. You just broke my heart about the custards, I am vaping on killer kustard as we speak and loving it! But it turns bright red on the coils and cotton I have noticed, bad sign you think? Switching off on strawberry! LOL!

Great you seem to have grasped the safety part! Alot of the newcommers usualy skip that part, so can't stress that enough. :p
Well it's up to you wether you want to vape custards or not. I personally vape custards as i love em.

No, all coils gunk up after awhile especially darker juices. I usualy have to clean/rewick my tanks daily when using my custards or any other of the dark juices.

bright red on coils is bad.
You are like 10 times hotter than you want to be.

You just want foggy steamy fog vapour coming off the coils, not bright red.
And if you were getting bright red before and not gagging and choking, then you have to stop.

I do so hope the KBOX makes a difference for me. I love building the coils and just having something to keep my mind off of cigs. Dripping is fun I just need to learn more about it. I watch some of Rip Trippers videos on YouTube and he rolls the vapes out! I would choke but he loves flavor too so there is something I haven't got right yet, still searching for the perfect method.

To me it just sounds like normal gunking up...
Ever vaped a darker juice? (Which i'm sure you've :p)

Edit: unless i missunderstood the meaning what she wanted to say.
If the coils are glowing red hot when vaping, then yea it's an issue. :)

I've been on this custard all day, I love it too! It's one of the yummy-tasting vapes that I will stick with and I hope to learn to mix a good custard. I saw how to heat coils and run them under water and bada-bing-clean! Me being new, I have been building instead of cleaning for the practice. I have been into the drill bits and all the different sizes! LOL!

How can I cool it down? I'm at .9 right now, should I build at 1. or more?

Without cotton, they glow red from the inside out. When I wick and juice the coils, they don't burn red but the juice is candy-apple-red on my cotton - just my custard does this funny color though.

Yeah that's what it was sounding like to me, and I hope I was wrong!

that's a relief!
doesn't matter what colour the cotton far from the coil is.
when the coil turns black it's time to clean / dry burn

I would assume that the custard is abit brown in color? I've 2 kinds atm one is brown and the other brand is nearly black. :)
Also juices will discolor after some time if exposed to light, the nicotine oxidises so it'll change color abit to the darker side. (not sure if i spellt that right but well)

Edit: Never seen a clear custard before o_O Altho you're vaping 0 nic i just remembered. Color highly depend on the nic levels aswell, or so i've been told.

No, I just picked up the kustard a couple of days ago, it's clear too. That's why I thought it was weird that it turned bright red when vaped.
