Is it the vendor or the equipment?

I ordered a Vision Spinner 1300mah Starter Kit from eCig Charleston about a month ago. tI comes with 2 batteries, charger, 5 blank cartos and a case for about $65.00 plus $1.99 shipping, which I thought was a great deal. I already had another 510 charger, so I thought it would be nice to have a second one. After getting my kit and charging the batteries, I found that one of them was faulty. The light wouldn't turn off on it, and it was constantly vaping any time a tank was screwed on to it. I filed a ticket. They asked me to send the battery back to them, which I did, and they sent me a new one. I charged that one, and this time the battery wouldn't work at all. I realized that I had used the charger they had sent me with the kit to charge both batteries, so I again filed a ticket and explained that I thought it was the charger that was damaging the batteries. They asked me to return the battery and charger, which I did. Now, mind you, I'm paying postage for all this returning. Yesterday I received a replacement charger and battery. I charged the battery with the new charger, The light stayed red forever. I finally took the battery off the charger. It didn't work, but it remained hot to the touch for hours. I finally put it outside on the cement because I was afraid it might explode. So, now I'm looking at sending back yet another battery and charger!

Has anyone experienced difficulty like this from products bought from eCig Charleston or Vision Spinner batteries in general? The charger says "My eGo START" on it. Also, I'm wondering at this point, if I should just demand a refund or what? I'm really tired of spending money on postage.

I have a Vision 1300mah spinner, not from that vendor but I do not have this issue. I even used a charger that came with my eGo kit to charge it. Never hot to the touch and the light on it flashes when first connect then goes off while charging.

I would ask for a refund of the kit if the vendor wouldnt start paying for postage or at least make it up to you somehow.

You're charging a vision spinner (eGo-type) battery with a 510 charger? I think that may be your problem, as I've heard that can cause issues. I think I read that you should not use 510 chargers with eGo-type batteries, as the output voltage of a 510 is higher (5V) than the eGo (4.2V).

Edit: I'm not sure that would explain the battery always being "on" when something is connected to it, but it would definitely explain why it became very hot while charging.

Not quite right.

Some of these cheapo mini e-cigs kits use a one piece (no cable even) USB dongle to charge that does nothing but provide 5 volts directly to the battery. (A truly dumb charger.) Those 5 volt charger dongles should never be used with any battery that requires a 4.2 volt charger - like JoyeTech eGo batteries, Vision Spinners or Joyetech 510 mini batteries.

Beyond getting the voltage of the charger correct for your particular battery, you never want to put more current into the battery than it's rated capacity. You can use a 4.2 volt 150 mA output charger to charge a large 1000 mAh eGo battery - but it might take forever to do it. But you never want to put a mini size 510 cigalike battery on a 4.2 volt, 420 mAh output eGo charger. The voltage is correct, but the output current of the eGo charger is about three times higher than a mini cigalike battery's capacity and you will fry the battery.

If you aren't sure, never use a charger your supplier does not specifically sell to go with your battery.
