Is something about my build causing dark spots on my wicks - in the same places every time??

Whenever I re-wick my build, dark spots appear on the "outside" part of the wick very quickly. I get no burnt flavor, but I always wonder why it always appears FIRST on the "outside" part of the wick? (By "outside" I mean the part of the wick that touches the wall of the juice well, as opposed to the part of the wick that hangs off into the middle of the juice well.)

These pictures are of two fresh new wicks on my dual coil setup. These wick have no more than 5-10 lung-draws on them. Both were completely saturated as best I could tell. coils were burned dry before inserting new wicks. But the dark spots are appearing on the wall side of both wicks once again.

One coil:

Other coil:

Specs, since I imagine people will ask:
- 26ga kanthal, coild are a couple weeks old
- clear juice (MBV's Blackberry)
- 0.42 ohm build

I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I get the same if I rewick and there is some old juice left in the well. It could be a little too much wick (a fraction), meaning that one side of the cotton is less dense than the other, so the heavier particles (either colouring or flavouring) have a harder time traveling to/through the coil and therefore form a sort of traffic jam (giving the darker colour).

Some of my builds get this sort of thing, sometimes one whole end of the wick goes a dark brown despite the other end being practically clear, one of the problems of non-uniform cotton I guess.

The above is just my theory on it, so feel free to disregard.

The only time i've seen this on my builds is when i havent fully cleaned the atty properly before re-building or/and wicking.
Have you used a darker juice in that atty before? sometimes juice can get trapped in the post's and doesnt shows itself untill you start heating up the atty with a dif colour juice.
Or maybe it could have come from the topcap.

Apart from that sort of thing i have had darkening on the wick that is under a coil, normally on the middle wraps where the wick drys quicker and the coil is hottest.

is kinda strange though if youve used only clear juice in this atty!? :)
