Is the battery, the charger or both???

As mentioned in a previous post, the husband and I began vaping again after not doing so for too long(about 15 mo's). The charger we have is a '510 Titan E-NIC 5 Battery MEGA Charger' the batteries are 'TORNADO E-NIC- Manual Battery' both purchased from TW.

It seems when we stopped vaping the 5 batteries were left sitting on the charger until they started being used again last week. They seem to be working OK for the most part. At least they should make it until my new batteries arrive tomorrow. But there seem to be issues with charging them.

Sometimes you place the bats on the charger the button flashes white a few times and the indicator turns red and they charge. Often though the button on th battery does not flash white a few times as it should. Sometimes the charger indicator does not turn red, it just stays green as if the battery we just used all day does not need any charging. Other times the red charging indicator does not go away, 12 hours later the battery looks to be still charging while other batteries placed on there later are done. Sometimes the red charging indicator flashes red a few times and goes right to green. Basically it is doing all sorts of whacky things.

So the questions is, is this because the batteries we have are SO old and have been sitting on the charger for so long? Did we also trash the charger by leaving the batteries on it for so long.

If we have trashed the charger I do not want to put my new batteries on there and ruin them.

Not sure if this well help, but always remember to clean your atty and batt threads and the charger. It'll at least help with batt life!!

+1 on Raynen. Just take a cotton swab and wipe the charger connection real good and wipe the threads of the batteries off with a papertowel. If they were dirty, you'll get some black crud on your swab/towel. This is just from the current running through dirt or any juice that may have gotten on the threads and is normal.

I have cleaned the batteries and the threads on the charger! Did that before they were left sitting and continued to do so recently when we started using them again. Batteries and chargers were working fine before the year plus they sat, so I can only assume that letting the batteries sit on the charger messed either the charger, the batteries or both up!

If it is just the batteries that are old and moody that is fine as more batteries are on the way. But if the charger is bad now as well I DO NOT want to put my new and improved 1,000 mAh batteries on it for fear that it will mess them up!

I guess what I need is a little understanding... is the charger smart, does it read the batteries and decide when to stop charging them. Is it the charger turning off the red light before it's time or deciding that a dead battery is done charging OR is it the batteries that sat on the charger for 15 months longer then they should have sending out whacky singles to the charger.

Most important will it mess up the new batteries to put them on this charger.

Whenever I use my PCC, I always push the battery in until it blinks and it has never failed to charge.

I think the charger is smart enough to shut off because I've never had a PCC die because I let them sit. Though, I never let my batts "sit" because I never really trust technology hehe.

I wish we never stopped vaping and went back to analogs. Unfortunately when we did we let a bunch of things sit that probably should not have for as long as they did!

Chargers are not all that expensive, I wouldn't take a chance on putting your new batteries on it. With a new charger you will also be able to check and see if the old batteries are the culprit! Welcome back to vaping!

Thats what I thought. Urgh... now I will have to wait another 4 or 5 days for a new charger to get here, which stinks because I have been checking the PO Box EVERY DAY for the new batteries and I am fairly certain they will be here tomorrow.

Also you may need a different size charger for your new batteries, example - ego's take different chargers than 510's

I have had the same issues with my ego I lost a mega batt and a a 750 some wiring fault inside the battery, one of them I lucked out and just re sautered the ground to the end cap it had broke loose and it would have the same symptoms, sometimes wouldnt work, the charger deal where it would flash but not actually charge. A close friend used to have a habit of tapping his pv, after so long his batteries would do the same thing and crap out
