Its not out yet even for reviewers, so nobody actually knows. It could end up being great, but will probably take a few gens of chips to get it perfect like the evolv40
The software will be upgradable though. So this time around you won't have to buy a new box or board to have the latest version.

I agree, while i would still wait for a few reviews, at least now with downloadable firmware you wont get stuck with a buggy first gen board anymore

why would you ever need that much power?!

Because trying to vape with an underpowered mod is no fun.

Personally I'm not sure how well the DNA200 is going to go over. We'll see just how many people really want to ditch their 18650 batteries and use only Li-Po packs instead. Of course that means that if you're battery is low you're tethered to a USB charger until it recharges, of you'll need to carry a second mod at all times.

I don't see any reason they couldn't do a dual 18650 150w version

The DNA200 chip specs require 9V input. You can't get that from dual 18650s. At the very least you would need 3 18650s and then run it through a buck converter before going to the chip to deliver the 9V using 18650s.

So it's Li-Po only. No other option.

coming from an rc backround, LiPo packs are the bee's knees

In an RC vehicle you've got easily removable batteries, a stand along charger made for those battery packs, and you can carry more than one with you. I can't see too many mods coming with easily swappable S3 9V Li-Po packs. I'm not even sure if they make stand-alone chargers for them.

The chip requires 9v for 200watt output. It couldn't be that difficult to convert the same architecture to 7.4v. Depending on the design it might just require a seperate firmware.

There is no boost converter on the chip, only buck conversion. So even 7.4V would be inadequate. You would have to change batteries the moment they dropped to 3.69V. You would get less than half the mAh rating worth of use from the battery before it had to be changed. Figure the average person would need to change batteries at least twice a day. More if they're vaping subohm at high wattage.

And a firmware update can't add hardware that doesn't exist on the board. It would take a new chip design.

Mods with DNA200 can also be done in a way that you can exchange Li-Po battery. But that would require Li-PO balanced charger.
For me that is not issue(RC fan :D ) but for others it might be...but...
