Is the Orchid really better than the Kayfuns?

More airflow and juice flow. Bigger bored chamber. It's all about the type if vapor you like. If you like big lung draws and lots of vapor then the orchid is Def for you. If not, then the KF is for you. The orchid can use all the KF drop kits and top caps too. I have an orchid on the way, but I've used it a few times. I am a lung hit kind of guy so to me the orchid is all around better than the KF IMO. Have to try it for yourself. :)

Reaper mods makes a kit for the Orchid, but It doesn't look much/if any smaller than the original, I'm thinking shrinking it down much further you're capacity is going to be like 1ml.

My time to play around with the orchid was limited compared to my experience with Kayfuns, so I might be biased, but overall I still prefer Kayfuns. Performance on the orchid was far superior because of the dual coil ability and significant increase in airflow over a kayfun, but I had tons of issues with either leaking or burning.

From what I've read it's supposed to be built with wicks IN channels, unlike a kafun, but because of the channel's size it's kind of difficult to know when you have the "right" amount of wick in the channels. I kept getting burnt hit one after another, even after several tries.

Then I wicked it more like a kayfun, trying to position the wicks so that they will not allow juice to fall into the center hole. Then it wicked fine, but I was getting constant leaking.

So, purely from a performance aspect, I'd say the orchid definitely beats the kayfun. For ease of use and reliability I'd say the kayfun still nails it.

EHPro's big buddha deck on a 22mm sized kayfun would probably be better than both though!

Guess I'll have to Jim. I'm looking for more airflow. Drop kit?

Per VaporDNA:

Build Recommendations:

  • Don't build the coils too hot as the juice might not travel fast enough resulting in a dry hit
  • Don't over use cotton to prevent flooding
  • Adjust the chimney height based on your build to have sufficient juice delivery (Screw chimney all the way down gives you the least juice delivery)
  • Performance may vary based on the build performed
  • Enjoy and keep on vaping!
"NOTE: Orchid RBA is interchangeable with many Kayfun/Russian 91% aftermarket accessories, due to it's unique chimney design, some custom top caps might need a wide bore drip tip in order to work. From our testing, you need a drip tip with base inner diameter of 6mm or larger for the Orchid RBA to fit with the Kayfun/Russian 91% Custom Top Caps - The Kayfun/Russian 91% Drop Kit is also interchangeable with the Orchid RBA"

Seems to me that if you're supposed to use the chimney as your juice control, their should be a method to adjust it while assembled.

I mean.. you have to drain the tank to disassemble it. So, you're basically just supposed to guess where you need the chimney at before you fill? Or constantly drain/fiddle/assemble/fill over and over until you find the right spot?

Seems like poor engineering to me, with a ghetto-rig fix for an inherent design flaw. C'mon now, even the VaporGiant RBA has that janky flathead style adjustment method. Something like the Aqua/Ithaka/Rose design is how juice control SHOULD be. Just my two cents.

its possible to move it while assembled, i use a pair of tweezers with the drip tip removed at grab the end of the chimney and twist, i totally agree tho there should be a better way of doing this, this atty has so much potential, just needs a few quirky things to be considered for what hopefully is the next version like ease of jc, fill screw, and airflow adjustment would be sick
