Is the Riva really just a boot legged Ego? Rumor mill.

I am not an expert on any of this- dont know mAh and Ohms and whatever from a hole in the ground. BUT, I will say that I do tend to pick up the Riva (650) more often than the Ego 1100. ??? dont know why- but I do- maybe its the size- but I dont think so- maybe its the color? (pink vs chrome) I tend to try and run them both at the same time, and dont know why on earth I go to one over the other- taste has always been nonexistant for me for the most part, I dont care if I shoot out a cloud of smoke or not, and TH is not a huge concern. but I think my riva does perform more consistantly. ???

I agree with the consistency and also it comes off the charger at a higher voltage than the ego. The SE and newer Riva's come off the charger bet 3.7-4.2v and this gives me a better th and satisfaction :vapor: Please don't buy up all the Riva's:facepalm:

AFAIK the original eGo design was made by Joye and first were sold through Janty (which is also Joye). Totally Wicked was also one of the first to have these and they were re-branded as Tornados but still made by Joye.

Eastmall was the first place to carry the Rivas. They were advertised before their release and this caused a lot of heated debate with people claiming that they were stealing Janty's design. It even got to a point where the people from Janty were claiming they were going to go after them, but apparently nothing ever came of that. The Rivas were released, and although they didn't carry a warranty and they looked a little cheaper looking, they sold well because they were competitively priced and many people couldn't tell a difference. If you were to ask me a 9 months ago which one you should get, I would have told you the eGo because it was already proven to be a pretty solid device and it came with a warranty.

But now.. I would probably tell you to get a Riva for one reason only. The new Rivas now output 3.7 Volts compared to the eGo and first generation Rivas which were more like 3.2V under load. That means you can get about the same type of vape using 2.0 Ohms atty on a 3.7V Riva (6.8W) as you would using a 1.5 Ohm atty on a 3.2V eGo (6.8W). Both setups produce 6.8 Watts, but the 3.7V/2.0Ω Riva does it with 1.85 Amps and the 3.2V/1.5Ω eGo does it with 2.1 Amps. Less current means less heat, so in theory the Riva should run cooler and last longer than the eGo, assuming the build quality is equal.

Firstly. Thanks to digs for the best response.

Secondly. As I heard it, janty was hired by Joye. It's joye's idea and janty's hardware so to speak. Jaunty fabricates the Joye products. Anyway. Either way. I was hearing this about the newer Riva batteries. That they have bettery operating consistency.

And seriously. When it comes down to it, the battery is what we're talking about. Because the carts atty's and or cartos etc. Are all over the place. I love my Riva battery. But the atty's it came with were hit or miss. I got new ones from elsewhere. And bam. Whole new experience.

Thanks again digs.

Great info on this thread thanks everyone.

What kind of attys are you using now for the better experience? Also does the Riva 510 work well with cartomizers? It looks like the boge cartomizers might not go very far past the cone on the Riva. Any experiences?

I'm still trying to decide between the Riva and the trex...
