Is there a rule about bumping old threads?

I was just reading a thread that was bumped last week by the OP to answer a question asked 2 months ago. After 3 additional posts, it was closed by a moderator for reviving an old thread. Is this a rule?

If their is I bumped one that was about 6 months old...

There is no written rule, however if the post adds nothing to the thread, then it will be deleted. If it adds something good to the thread, then that's fine.

We also take a judgment on the worth of the thread - if it's an ancient thread that is outdated, for example, it may be misleading for it to be brought back up. A moderator with then lock it.

However, we do appreciate that many old threads are still valuable and there is no problem with them being bumped.

There is no rule, per se - this is one area where the judgement of the mod team is key.
