Is there an atomizer and drip tip that will fit a volt?

Dripping with an auto-draw battery isn't really advisable... chances of getting leakage into the airflow mechanism is high. You'd be better off grabbing an ego battery and some atomizers like these:

Joyetech 510 Atomizer 5 pack [Joyetech 510 Atomizer 5pack] - $9.95 | Best Electric Cigarette | Electronic Cigarette

However, if you don't have your heart set on dripping, cartomizers can be refilled. While they're considered a disposable part, there are many ways to clean them, and they typically can be refilled at least a few times before cleaning/disposal is needed. Check this out for a simple way to fill/refill:

Filling 510 electronic cigarette cartomizers using the "condom" or "push" method - YouTube

You also can buy cartomizers from multiple vendors -- any 808-D threaded cartomizer will work.

Also -- being new to this... Welcome! Hope you enjoy your stay :D

One thing to remember is that outside of rebuildables and a few very high end atomizers, the 'business end' of an e cigarette, so to speak, is considered disposable. Things like most 'clearomizers' (which are simply a clear tank, with a wicked atomizer installed inside of it), all cartomizers, and most atomizers are expected to have a limited lifespan. There are ways to extend this, and if you're willing to take the time, most things can either be thoroughly cleaned to "near-new" or rebuilt to save a bit more money, but they largely are the ongoing cost along with juice for ecigs. This is why many people will put more money into a battery setup; it allows more options for the disposable part (which includes rebuildables).

Smokeless Image advertises that their auto batteries are sealed, however, there are still air holes in the battery which activate the auto mechanism when one takes a puff. If juice gets in those holes, the battery can still fry. I've read of this happening, and the Smokeless Image warranty does not cover this happenstance.

Best advice I can give is to purchase a manual battery, preferrably one of the larger X2 batteries. Also get an 808 to 510 adaptor and a proper dripping atomizer if you feel dripping is in your future.

Drip tips can be found from nearly any major online e-cig vendor. Any 510 drip tip should fit. RTD Vapor has a surprisingly wide selection of drip tips. http://www.rtdvapor.com/online-store

Smokeless Image also sells the Nano. It is top-filled, no needle/syringe needed to fill. Easy to clean and use a new flavor, if you are just looking for an easy-to-use juice tasting delivery device.

Thank you so much!! Today is "technically" my first day vaping... I have tried a blu, and it helped me cut back. I really like the volt better than it, and I plan on upgrading soon. I just wanted to make sure this is something I will stick with first. I think I'll give myself a week, then upgrade :) Meanwhile, looks like I will be cleaning some cartos. Thanks for the links and welcome!

For cleaning cartos, I've had decent success boiling them in distilled water. I'll bring the water to a boil with the cartos in it, and stir them around periodically over the course of about 30 minutes. I'll then pull the carto's from the water, and blow them out over the sink from both ends. I'll repeat that process until I can't smell the e-juice scent in the filler anymore, then let them air dry for a day or 2. I'll typically change the water the first and second pass, but then won't for however many more passes it takes. Seems to work well enough for me; but the clearomizers that SI sells linked by Baditude above are definitely less time consuming.

Edit: Oh -- remove the silicon end caps from the cartomizers before tossing em into the water. :) Also, if the cartomizers have a wrap on them (i.e., they're not stainless tubes), the adhesive holding it on may unbind. Just something to keep in mind.

standard cartomizer = tube with a little atomizer in it plus poly filling. Disposable after so many days/ml.

clearomizer = clear tube with little atomizer in it and a liquid reservoir that feeds the little atomizer. Disposable after so many days/ml.

Atomizer with drip tip = just the heating element in a small steel tube, plus the mouthpiece (drip tip). No reservoir or poly filling that holds a bunch of eliquid. You literally drip a couple drops at a time of eliquid onto it, vape, then redrip. It is much more convenient to use this than a cartomizer/clearomizer for trying a bunch of liquids, becaue it is fairly easy to clear it out between liquids. I'll just vape a little plain VG, others will do a "dry burn" (basically cook the coil to burn everything off). You can also quickly rinse the atomizer under the tap, then do a burn on it to evaporate the residual water; since there's no filler or reservoir, the old eliquid is easy to get rid of.

OP: Do you actually have an auto battery? It seems most of the responses to you have assumed so simply because you mentioned the Volt. Regardless, I'll give you the gamut of answers to try and help you out. :)

IF your batteries are automatic, there are no atomizers which will work out of the box. A 901 will fit the threads, yes, but it uses a different means of airflow than a "sealed" 808 to activate the battery and heat the coil. A 510 atomizer will work with an unsealed 510-808 adapter, and is your best bet for dripping on a Volt automatic. In a pinch, you can also modify a Volt cartomizer (or any other center coil cartomizer) for use as a dripping atomizer, but it will leak like a sieve. Simply soak the cartomizer in water and then remove the polyfill leaving the center air tube intact. No more than 2 drops in a modified carto in my experience; any less and you'll immediately get a dry hit, more and it will flood the coil and be worthless until you blow it out. As mentioned, any standard 510/901 drip tip will work just fine. S.I. even sells rubber "comfort tips" that will work well, though I find the rubber alters the taste.

And yes, too much fluid in a "sealed" battery can gunk up the vacuum switch. But it literally requires a flood of liquid seeping in. If you're careful, and clean the threads of your battery and carto every couple of hits, you should have no problems. There are even ways to fix a gunked up switch should it occur, which most people either never knew about or have forgotten how.

IF you have a manual battery, a 901 atomizer will work just fine with no adapters or modding needed. I've used both 901 and 510 atties, as well as modded cartos, and I prefer the flavor of a 901. It just feels cleaner, even though I no longer drip. Manual batteries can also be ruined by too much juice seeping in, though it is extremely rare. Again, this can be fixed, but the easiest solution is regular cleaning of everything.

Clearos are another good option for testing juices, but an atomizer and a good Delrin or stainless steel drip tip will give you a much stronger throat hit and better flavor.

The best method for cleaning cartomizers in my experience is to actually disassemble them completely and give everything a good soak in alcohol. It isn't very easy to do with the smaller cartos that S.I. sells, but it can be done. Some have also suggested to fill an old cartomizer with straight PG and vape it dry, but I've never tried that.

Good luck!

Any atomizer that is '901 threaded' will work. Most sites sort out atomizers based on the type of connector they use. It looks like the ohms rating on the SI cartos is about 2.3-2.5 -- so a 2 or a 2.5 ohm atty will provide the closest flavor to what you will get with the cartomizer. If you go with a lower ohm rating, you will get more vapor production and a bit higher heat -- but since you're testing for filling cartomizers, you might want to match the ohms rating of the cartomizers.

Thanks for the thorough post, Johnnie -- I'll be the first to admit my experience with cig-a-likes is very minimal -- as well as with auto-draw mechanisms. Very thorough and detailed. :)

Thanks for the visuals! I think I'm gonna go with a few of the clearomizers for now. I don't think I'm ready for the atomizer yet. You guys are great!!

Word to the wise, are you aware that clearomizers are susceptible to a small group of flavors that can crack or melt their plastic? A list of these flavors that have been documented to do this is in this list:

As corruption42 said, any 901 atomizer will work just fine. When I still used 901 equipment, I got it all from ValueVapor. They have good prices and a great selection of 901 accessories, and I was never disappointed with anything I received. Be sure to grab a drip shield and a drip tip while you're there and you'll be all set. I also highly recommend the 901-T system. Though the flavor is a bit muted, it otherwise gives all the benefits of dripping with less mess and hassle. I haven't used it since I discovered the Echo, but I may grab a kit so I can have it at times. You can drip with a Tank atty as well, but a regular dripping atty will hold more drops.

@corruption42 - Glad you found it helpful. I'm a huge fan of 901/808 and automatics, so I try to learn everything I can.

:D
