Is there an e-cig that will fit in a front pocket and take some abuse?

I'm looking for my first e-cig to switch from regular cigarettes. I'm a farmer, so I'm always on the go, in and out of vehicles, on the ground, etc. I need something that will fit in my front pocket. I've heard great things on the RiVa 510, but they seem to large and bulky to fit in a front pocket.
Anyone have any recommendations?

Hi and welcome to ECF. The eGo and Riva aren't really as big as they look in the pictures. They're about the size of a small cigar. I've carried mine around in my front shirt pocket but I'm not doing physical labor so it wasn't an issue. Where I carry my stuff most of the time is in the side pockets of my cargo pants. As far as taking abuse, I'm not sure how they're going to hold up. If you want something that's tough enough to take whatever you throw at it you might have to go to something like a mod, but I don't know if that's something you want to consider.

I have broken standard 510 style units like they were twigs (in a pants pocket). Haven't broken an eGo style battery that way, but I have accidentally fired it in my pocket and fried my nads (sorry ladies.. just trying to be technically accurate). The eGo-T gets around that problem with the "press 5 times to disable the battery" feature..... but some consider that to be a hassle.

Smaller means shorter battery life, so you'll have to carry spares or a PCC around to get through the day. Go with an all day, not too big, robust battery like the Joye Ego 510. The system has a lot of flexibility.

You can get KR-808D1 shorty batteries but they barely last an hour of medium vaping. If you are farming you won't want to fiddle with swapping batteries.

I'm a mechanic/body man & always working. I use a puresmoker v3... it's all stainless steel & very durable. it has a screw lock on the switch so no accidental firings. about the only problems I've had are with carty's, they can easily be snapped off & give you a nice wet pocket full of juice... since switching to a regular 510 atty with drip tip almost no problems... the worse case might be breaking an atty but that would take serious abuse, I haven't completely broken one yet but have kinda bent a few... they keep on going...

the v3 is not small, but it is a serious hunk of stainless steel & very durable, I've dropped & abused it many times with no problems... well one problem really, & that is, if you happen to drop it straight down & it hammers on the switch when it's in the unlocked position, this can compress your batteries a bit making them just short enough to not make contact, but even that isn't such a big issue cause yo can just loosen the contact screw inside at the switch a bit to make up for the difference... overall it's almost bullet proof ...

You can press 5 times to disable an ego battery? How do you enable it? Learn something every day here...

Press 5x again to enable the eGo-T (oh, and sing Camptown Ladies doodah doodah <--- re advice from a good source).

I carry my eGo in a Lanyard from COV (clouds of vapor) and hardly even notice it's there, it's quite lightweight. It's really easy to just tuck inside my T-Shirt or coat when tossing hay over the fence or cleaning the dog bowl or planting that bulb. The battery also charges quite fast (2 hrs for 8 hrs worth of vaping) and doesn't run my car battery down while charging.

The Pcc's that are about the size of a cigarette pack will hold one fully assembled, One battery and 4 or 5 carts or standard length cartomizers.

I have some Carhardt Bibs that have the pocket right in front up top. My Inferno fits well right there. I also have a coat with pen pocket on the upper sleeve and that works great too.

I'd have to keep it in a jean pocket.
Yeah, that does make it harder, since you also will need something with a shutoff switch.
And that pretty much rules out anything the size of a cigarette.

You might want to check the mod database and see if you can find anything...

Or maybe that eGo mentioned previously that can be shut off.

I'd have to keep it in a jean pocket, learned my lesson with cell phones in a breast pocket. A laynard won't work, I'd be too afraid of it getting caught in a PTO shaft or something like that. With PCC's do you have to dismantle them each time you put them in?

they sell ego switch protectors for the pocket but you might have to fashion a belt clip kinda thing like those holders for all-in-one tools, I hear ya on the PTO/lanyard thing, in your line I wouldn't consider anything around my neck.

The ego with a regular size clearomizer attached is 4 5/8", maybe that will help. Thats a bit shorter than an ego/atomizer/cartridge setup (and sturdier as there are less parts to come apart).

How about a KR808D-1 (in nicer colors as Vapor King at Vapor4Life and as MaxxFusion at BloogPlanet) - it's a 2-piece. So it just has a cartomizer that screws on the battery. No push-on parts. You would need to bring juice to top off the cartomizer and bring a spare cartomizer or two in case one dies, but nothing really breakable. I do recommend manual batteries for use with cartomizers so there would be a button that could possibly turn it on in your pocket, but auto batteries can accidentally turn on from vibration etc.

Cartomizers need to be filled/topped off less often than the carts of a 3-piece e0cig. But cartomizers can die or get singed. If you make sure you add more juice before it gets dry you should be able to use a cartomizer for several days or more.

Also - if you want a slim rather than fat (Ego etc) battery, KR8 has the longest life in its standard size because more of its length is battery (280mah vs 180mah for the 510 in their standard sizes, and Vapor4Life also has 180mah shorty batteries for KR8). The alternative would be slim batteries (510 or KR8) and a PCC charging case which can charge one battery while you are using another.

(Vapor4Life Vapor King is KR8 as is Blogplanet maxxFusion and plainer standard kits available at places like LiteCigUSA.net and VaporLeaf.com)

But if you want something you can vape a lot all day for 6-8 hours or more, then you need to look at the fat battery models. The KR8 fat battery model is Elegant Easy by CigEasy. Alternately you could use 510 or KR8 with a PCC to charge one battery while you use the other. KR8's PCC is a very flat metal case that holds 2 cartos and one charging battery.

knowing how much and how you smoke wold help some people come up with suggestions for you Jefferz. Heavy smoker? Light smoker? Smoke while working with your hands?

If you're used to smoking while actively working, a manual (push button) battery may not be for you and you may want an automatic battery that works by the suction you apply to the internal switch when you inhale. Light smoker then a mini e-cig may work fine, Heavier and you will want something more. Battery size is important if you're a frequent smoker and a mini e-cig will have you changing or charging batteries frequently, especialy in our winter weather.

If one of those cheater reading glasses metal cases will fit in your pocket (they have a pocket clip on the cap already) then you can fit either a couple 510's or one eGo 650mAh fully assembled in it.

I've used them for over a year and since the cases are metal and waterproof and lined with a soft plastic, your PV is handy and safe in any weather. If they fall out, you can sure spot them easy cause they come in different colors.
