Is there an idiot-proof clearomizer?

I've been vaping on-and-off for about 2 years but I'd like to fully quit smoking analogs. My boyfriend is into rebuilding coils and all that stuff, so he usually has taken care of finding me e-cig setups, but I'd like to be able to do that on my own.

So, this brings me to the question: is there an idiot-proof clearomizer? The reason why I haven't stuck to vaping is because every time I buy a clearo, it doesn't work consistently. My ecig itself seems to be working, but often I just can't get anything out of the clearo when I vape, and I don't know why (I've tried various kinds of clearos and ecigs, tried changing the head and wiping off the contact points, but nothing seems to make a difference) ... so I end up going back to analogs.

I know this seems like a really noob-ish question but I'd appreciate any recommendations that anyone can provide. I just want to quit smoking! :p

I'm all about low maintenance and just want something that plain works. The clearo that has been the best for me (no maintenance needed at all, besides changing out the coil every ~6 weeks) has been the Innokin iClear 30S. You won't have flooding or gurgling issues that are prevalent with bottom-coil clearos, and the performance is really good in my opinion. It doesn't have a glass tank, so may not be the one for you if you vape cinnamon stuff or other plastic tank-killing liquids.

In a word... no. If you want something that doesn't require rebuilding but is almost completely trouble-free, I'd suggest a cartotank. Yeah, every once in a while it's possible to get a "dud" carto, but it doesn't happen often -- at least, not with Smoktech cartos. If you have a slim "eGo" type battery, I'd suggest the Smoktech small UDCT; it holds 3.5ml. For a larger thicker battery, I'd suggest the regular Smoktech UDCT, which holds 6ml, I think. I use one of those, the larger ones, everyday, and it's amazingly trouble-free.

Both of those work with these cartos at IBtanked -- best price I've found on these cartos, and if you buy 10 or more, you get a 10% discount.

If you're up to doing the coil building/rebuilding thing, then I'd suggest a Kayfun Lite Plus -- best vape I've ever had, and amazingly trouble-free; once you get a good coil mounted, all you really ever have to do is re-wick occasionally.

First off, no such thing as idiot proof, never underestimate the idiots out there! Second, you're not an idiot, you want a product that provides you with a satisfying vape with minimal effort. Is there such a product? Probably so, but I haven't stumbled across it yet, so I keep a back-up for everything around all the time.

Depends on the level of idiocy really. There is probably a certain idiot threshold that if you exceed that there is no hope at all. Ever.

Many have found the Nautilus with BVC coils (full or mini) to be relatively trouble free and has long lasting coils. These haven't been perfect for everyone, but the consensus seems to be quite positive. Many also find the new style coils with the Aerotanks to be very good performing and forgiving of setups. There are also some boutique type clearo's like the Silo that many like. The Nautilus and Aerotanks have been out long enough to be discounted heavily and at their low prices are definitely worth a look, just be sure to get from a reputable dealer so you don't wind up with a clone.

Carto systems work very well for a hassle free vape. It takes a bit to prime it at first, but it's pretty smooth sailing after that.

The Aspire nautilus works well with BVC replacements so I hear. When using a clearo, you just need to make sure you have the a constant pressure and secure vacuum. Otherwise the clearo won't wick properly after each draw. Make sure all the threading points are snug. Same thing with the kayfun.

I don't really find it any more troublesome than, for example, putting a new wick in a kayfun -- drain, do whatever, refill. I always use a syringe, and since I use XL cartos, I measure exactly 1.1ml into the syringe, and slowly put that amount into the carto -- it takes a minute or two, so you don't flood the center tube. Then insert, fill the tank, close it up and put the driptip on, and you sometimes see some bubbles floating up from the holes; if I see them, I give it another minute or two, and turn the power down a little, hit it softly until I know for sure it's all good. Maybe 5-10 mins tops, which is probably about the same for doing a rewick on a kayfun.

"Make something idiot proof and the world will build a better idiot."

That being said I find the Kanger t2's to be relatively trouble free. Occasionally you need to change the wick, or tighten something, but generally very hassle free. Also with the new heads at 5 for $2.99 (.60 a piece from vaping-me) and the clearos at $3 a piece i don't hesitate to toss/swap hardware when there is a problem. I was never patient enough with the carto based tanks, and too often wound up with a burnt poly filler carto.

Like Throwrats said. Get a couple or five Kanger T2's and some replacement heads for a few pennies. Great stuff for little hassle. The most fiddling I've had to do with these is tip the tank to keep the wicks saturated from time to time. I love Aspire's BVC coils, but the Kanger T2 will win every time when it comes to trouble-free vaping.
