On my new Evod, if you click the battery button five times it turns the battery off. Is there any advantage to keeping the battery turned off, since you can't vape out of it unless you have the button depressed anyway? Does that battery drain if it's not turned off? I can't see how it could possibly start activating by accident unless it gets jammed against something which depresses the battery, but is that an issue? Anyone have an answer? Also, when I recharge it, is it best to do that with the battery turned on or off?

Yep, I always turn off my PV before putting it in my pocket. It's a bit of a pain when using my zmax mini as it's a three-click, wait, one-click process.
I have a VMOD that has a mechanical lock-out switch that is so much more convenient.

That said, after reading numerous "my mod fired in my pocket and now I have a burnt thigh and a destroyed mod" threads, it's pretty much the only vaping related 'rule' that I do every single time with no exceptions.

If there is no way it can fire, then by all means leave it on. I've not noticed (or seen reported) any difference in battery run-time.

I guess a key in my pants could do that accidentally.

or bending over to pick something up, getting in the car, leaning against a table, putting in a book bag or luggage, too.

As far as charging, I don't think so.

As smacuser said, it is a safety feature that keeps the battery from firing if it is being kept in a pocket or purse.

There is no drain on the battery unless it is actually being used, so turning it off does not conserve the charge anymore than if it were on.

It does not matter if you put the battery on the charger in ON or OFF mode, as the battery is automatically switched to ON mode anyway in order to close the circuit and allow current to flow into the battery. You can't activate the battery while it is being actively charged, but you should notice that when charging is complete, the battery is ON when it comes off the charger.

Now with mechs, I understand a Kick will drain a battery if left inside.:offtopic:

    Thanks. That was very informative.

Yeah I once was outside at a bar, and thought a bee stung my leg till i realized my mod had been firing in my pocket for some time and was cooking my leg!
had a Zippo leak lighter juice on my leg in my pocket the same way...no more flamage and chemical burns (reason #23,432 for switching to vaping :D)

Yes, this happened to me at work once. I thought I had been bitten in the leg by something horrible. Did I learn my lesson? Not even close. After frying 3 drip tips, two of which fuzzed themselves to the atomizer, I decided to start using the off feature. Now on the night stand while I sleep, I typically leave it on, or charging. I wouldn't think it drains the battery while not being used, but it may do so ever so slightly.

Turning it on and off several times a day may in fact drain your battery more. I can't confirm this because I always leave it on in an ego zipper case to prevent accidental firings. Each time it turns on, it goes through a "diagnostic " (for want of a better word ),which will drain your battery.

There was a post I read sometime ago where this was the case.
