Is there any way to stay logged in?

Sometimes when I'm on ECF I will navigate away to Google to search something a member has posted. When I go back to ECF I'm logged out. So I don't think it's because I've idled and have been signed out. But even if that were the case, is there any way to make it so I stay logged in no matter how long I've been away from ECF? I get sick of constantly having to sign in. ECF seems to log me out more frequently than any other website.

Some info:
I'm running Firefox 3.6.8 on Windows 7
Cookies are supported 100% of the time, none are blocked.
I am running NoScript add-on, but ECF and all of ECF's content is supported and not blocked.
Hmm can't think of anything else but if someone has any ideas or questions about any other features I'm running feel free to share.

I am looking forward to getting this answer as well. I think that the reason that it is like that is because the server cant handle all of the people that are on the forum so this helps keep the server less cluttered. This is just my guess so anyone that knows more about this please chime in.

I doubt this is the case. When the server is overloaded I get either a vBulleting message telling me that the server is too busy, or I get no response at all. Not sure, but I believe with the upgrade the database is on a different server, so that actually decreases the load on the web server. This frequent logout problem appears to be something affecting some people since the upgrade, and the server was certainly very heavily loaded before that.

Server load has dropped significantly after all the changes I made, we shouldn't be seeing those "server overloaded" messages anymore...

I'm active on two forums and can relate my experience with this regard on both of them, and on both my home computer and my 'at work' computer.

In both cases, unless I clear my cookies, I remain logged in indefinitely at home ... but, time out at work. The only difference is that I'd checked the 'remember me' box at home. When I say indefinitely, I mean through browser closures and even system reboots, and time wise I don't see any time out for weeks on end. Without manually logging out, I'm ALWAYs here (and on the other forum).

Nothing changed for me with the upgrade.

debb, and others who are timing out: Is it possible you've got some type of maintenance program running in the background which cleans your cookies? I'm really pretty clueless and wondering why some people time out and others don't. What does each group have in common?

Someone is bound to come along with an answer. In the meanwhile, I'm glad I'm not timing out at home. It's a good thing though on a shared computer at work.

100% strange... I've never been logged out unless I specifically tell it to clear cookies... Please verify your date and time of your computer is correct. (and timezone)

Cookies are set to expire based on time. Server time is currently: Mon Sep 6 13:59:53 EDT 2010

Yes my date and time and timezone are correct on my computer and in sync with ECF's timezone settings. I am not running a cookie sweeping program. Happened before and after the upgrade, no change really. Remember me is checked.
