Hey family,

I don't stay up with the trends at all much like I use. Been using regular 26 gauge or 28 gauge single coils for my mods. I mainly use a bottom feeder mod. Does the added surface area of ribbon wires make a noticeable wow difference for the better ? If not ribbon, is there something else earth shattering ?
Not into Fancy builds. Tried a few when started out and learned a few things 1. I suck at building 2. I don't like to do it 3. Usually build is a small a upgrade from my single coil I use in my bottom feeder.

Thx much guys.

I do not know the answer to your question.
My very first roll of wire was ribbob wire.
Worked fine.
But I did deliberately get 4 rolls of regular round wire of different gauges, just because there's more wealth of information and experience available in detail - take the steam engine coil calculator for example.
It could be done (calculator) but you'd have to account for ribbon wire by having:
- 2 dimensions to account for (example 0.1mm x 0.3mm)
- instead of just1 dimension (diameter)

but If you are an experienced vaper which by the sounds of it you are, ribbon wire is definitely worth a try;
- same wraps
- same ID
and here's the trial and error part:
- same ohms

Ribbon was popular before the high power mods, the advantage is not needing to wrap a huge coil that requires a lot of power. Where it shines is mid power builds on a mech where massive coils won't work well.

For the same .5 ohms at 35 watts you can have 3x the surface area making more vapor.

In a high power box twisted and very low guage have the advantage I think because you get bigger coils you can just brute force into working well..

If you don't want to, use high power or don't have a high power mod ribbon is def worth checking out. My dripper is setup with 28g equivalent and runs awesome at a low 25- 30 watts on a mech

When ribbon first showed up it was labeled bakkero wire, check out some YouTube vids to see what we could pull off before high power box mods existed

Ribbon is finicky stuff, miserable to work with, hard to rewick... and it's bloody fantastic. Some atomizers were designed for it a few years back. I happen to own one of those atomizers and I reserve my flat kanthal for it exclusively. A modest 0.8ohm coil (~20W on a mech) yields a perfect vape.
