What differences do you noticed between touching and non touching coils?

Can't wait to try a spaced coil. iLife some of you mentioned, I notice the resin on my touching coils and on my wick if I wait an extra day or two before I remove the wick and dry Fire the coil. Even after dry firing coil It still seems like I can't get all the resin off.

I have always used touching coils cause that's all I ever see in videos and I'm a knuckle head follower and don't try different things on my own. I'm very glad to see the information you guys provided and excited to build n vape a slightly spaced coil.

I am getting spaced coils automatically. I do not anneal (torch) wire before wrapping, wrap it tight and since it is a little bit springy, after wrapping I am getting nicely spaced coils. I never use torch - before or after. Only dry burn when coil is installed.
This...played with everything else mentioned. Spaced, compressed and everything in between.
Life's too short : )

I find micro gunks easier and harder to dry burn. On low watts it takes longer to heat but can also get too hot so you have to start your drag slow then faster and faster.

I only use them now to get the ohms im after in a tight space.

I find it also can dry hit if your wicking isnt up to scratch as the hottest part is the last to get juice.

Lol silicon, i still use it in some of my stuff, recoiled an off the shelf into my main vape when i went away for a month. I think it only needed 1 dry burn The whole time.

I cant tell the differnce between silicon, cotton, occ but i think mesh tasted best but painful to set up. I have a mix going but cbf doing mesh

I've been a proponent of the push to spaced coils and have banished contact coils as doing nothing but making a hot spot in the middle and creating loads of gunk. Had a few debates, in the past, with the TMC crowd. Lol

Spaced coils are better all around.

The only benifit of a contact coil is if your stuck with low power and you need to make it hotter by creating a hot spot in the middle. In which gunk starts to form as the juice is cooked on top of the coil.

I have tried both Touching and Spaced Coils.

To Me, there Isn't a huge Difference in the Taste of the Hit. The Spaced Coils are maybe Slightly Better tasting. But it Isn't Night and Day.

I don't seem to get Dry Hits as much with Spaced Coils if I Chain Vape. But I don't really Chain Vape much.

What I do find though is even if I start with Spaced Coils, by the Time I have to Rewick the 1st time, the Coils have compressed and are now Touching.

I build with Spaced Coils more because it "Looks Right". But would/could probably have the Same Results if I started with Touching Coils.
