What's up guys I have an ipv2s and wanted to know it this was normal. There is plastic melting around the battery, not severe but noticeable. should I stop using it and get a new box mod, or is this fine ? Help. Thanks.

Also, I'm using an efest 18650 batt, and I never go below .4 ohms.. 20150322_171404.jpg

It's not new news. They do use some sort of silicone as a sealer. When this was first noticed months ago, people thought it was melting. ipv came out with an official statement with pictures showing that step of the manufacturing process to prove it was not melting. Do however, make sure that you are using a battery with a 20amp continuous rating like a 30A purple e-fest (re-wrapped b-stock vtc4's) Samsung 25r's, LG HE2, LG HE4, Sony vtc 4&5's, and SubOhm cells.

I just put epoxy on the connector of my IPV 3 to better secure it and they are all the same way. I can ensure you nothing is melted that's from the factory. The only thing I see bad on these units is the non threaded connector. They press fit the connector and eventually it will pop out if not secured better. So rather than wait I don't care about warranty and decided to be proactive about it.
