where did you buy it? B&M, ebay, craigslist, some shady looking guy in an alley?
most B&M are selling real ones for about $300 last I heard
a good test for counterfeits is to check the threads. Does it thread smoothly or is it "crunchy" feeling?

about the only way to know is buying this stuff from a reputable dealer.
not true my 20 dollar nemesis is so smooth it will spin the bottom/top cap all the way on with a simple flick of the fingers, and every day it gets harder hand harder to tell where they come from depending on who cloned them.
