So I am no newbie to vaping but this is the first time I purchased Kanthal straight from temco. It says annealed... Is this the correct kind for vaping?

Thats what I use.
When I first started to rebuild I ordered 2 rolls (30ga and 28 ga) for my Kafun's. I find that can get a month or two from a microcoil on the kayfun. So I figure the 2 rolls should last me about 50 years.
I also screwed up the courage to walk into Sally Beauty supply and bought the smallest box of Cellu-Cotton (Rayon) they had, about 25 feet. Changing wicks a couple of times per week I figure that will last about 100 years.

All Kanthal A1 has the heat treatment = "annealed (soft)"... however, the older roll labeling may not indicate this. Nichrome is also annealed soft.

With adequate tension (use a hemostat or similar, rather than your fingers on the wrap tail), you'll find that there is no reason to use a torch. Final compression of the coils can be done on the atty with the first few test fires... as the alumina layer is being developed.
