California: vaping is not illegal. Viewed the same as smoking.

So, good and bad news then. Thanks.

Any restrictions on smoking different to Europe? (No smoking indoors in public spaces)
Smoking is permitted outdoors in the UK apart from when it's banned on private land. That's a legal grey area.

Looks like it is still legal to vape in California :)
Just don't vape inside anywhere without asking first.

I imagine it is illegal to vape in a hotel room. Myself? I would anyway just not big clouds. Smoke detectors are getting really sensitive these days.
Not in Burbank, CA. not even outside.

Welcome and glad you joined. I have not been to the springs for awhile. This is a hidden vacation gem in my state and a good vacation spot choice. If I remember, the place is real laid back and tolerant. Just use common sense and you will be fine.
Could ask at where your staying, if you could vape in your room (or where?).Vaping is generally accepted in any public, out of the way, outdoor area. If is extremely rare that someone would say anything to you, provided your off the beaten path, about vaping outdoors in a public (non privately owned) place.
Might want to take the tram up the mountain and bring a lunch along with hiking gear. Check daytime temp. before you go and dress accordingly.

Yeah, I looked that up. You can't vape where you can't smoke. That's it. There's no complete vaping ban.

It's easy to see how rumours get started and misinformation gets plastered all over the internet.

NO rumor. Reporting what was reported in a news break on radio.

I heard it on 104.1 FM KQTH here in Tucson.

You heard wrong. You can't vape where you can't smoke. That's it. Period.

That's the same personal rule I follow as well.

I'll check in later to see if you have more "proof".

Anyway, carry on.

HI,
I live in California and here what I have experienced the rules for smoking apply to vaping. You can not vape in any area that is considered a non smoking area. If you keep it on the down low no one will bother you. I have worked for the same company for years When I quit smoking they let me vape in my office and as long I don't offend anyone or over do it I am ok. So, vape on and keep it on the down and don't make a big deal out of it.

I wish everyone would follow this simple rule, to avoid giving vaping a bad name and attracting unwanted attention. There are millions of people who don't know what the score is…what the contents of the vapour are….they don't know the difference between smoke and a vapour cloud….so no point getting them unnecessarily riled up.

I read in some forums where guys are firing up in a cinema and whatnot….I would never even try it in a crowded place.

Hi there,

My partner and I are looking at going to Palm Springs for our honeymoon in September. We're coming from London England, and wanted to check what the law around vaping actually is?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! X X

If I was going on a Major Trip to someplace I had Never been to, and had Questions regarding what Can and Can't been done, I would Not rely solely on what people said on an Internet Forum.

Why don't you take a Few Minutes to compose a short list of your Questions, and the call the Non-Emergency number listed below?

City of Palm Springs : Police

Because these are the People who would are Charged with Enforcement of City and State Laws for where you are going.

BTW - I would also contact BOTH your Travel Agent and the Airline Carrier you plan to fly on and get Clarification on what is Allowed in both Checked and Non-Check Luggage.

BTW2 - Palm Springs can be Just as Hot (or sometimes Hotter) than Hell in September. Bring a Hat and some Sunscreen.
