You aren't firing a .5Ω at 4v ~ 4.3v on the istick 30, no matter what the display shows.
4.3v / .5Ω = 36.9w
4v / .5Ω = 32w
Both exceed the 30w max output.

30w using a .5Ω = 3.87v <--- this is the maximum voltage the istick30 will out put using a .5 resistance.
26w using a .5Ω = 3.6v <--- this is the output voltage at 26w using a .5

Ohm's law layin a smackdown! This is very helpful, I'm still learning the intuitiveness and counterintuitiveness of Ohm's law. I guess I need more POWAR! Thank you for your time and thank you Completely Average for the recommendation. I'll look into it!

Ah. Makes sense. I can be dense. I'm firing my istick at 4.0 to 4.3 at around 26 watts. Would like a little more wiggle room. I just wanted to make sure the mini 2s minimum wouldn't be too high for me haha!

But now I'm wondering if I should upgrade to an iStick 50 (Are all their QC issues people were complaining about fixed?) a subox (there's different versions out there so I know you don't really know what you're getting..) or the mini 2?? So many choices! I think I want more power and get some 3 mg juice and get my clowd-chasing enthusiasm done and out of the way

Thanks for the help everyone!!! :)
I have an istick 30 and 50 and they've served as perfect work mods for over 3 months. Both quality for me. I love the Coolfire 4 though. Same battery life as the istick 30 if that is good enough for you, 40 watts, and it's sexxxxay.

As you can see from my signature below, my main mod is the IPV mini 2 and I love it. The Yihi chip inside is a good one. Of course, which mod you use will depend entirely upon how you want to vape. With the current tank I am using I usually stay around 30 or 35w but every once in awhile when I decide I want to blast some larger clouds then I take it up to 55 or 60W...... The extra power is nice for making large clouds, plus knowing that you have a little extra power if/when you need it is nice.

Thats where my head is at. Are you using 6 mg? I'm just concerned if I go up real high wattage I'll burn the coils burn my lungs etc. Does the vape get hot as hell.

Now im intrigued by this new ipv d2 with temp control getting ready to come out. I know I'd need nickel coils. But for all the features and how cheap it is... Seems too good to be true.

In other words, is temperature control worth a crap for the general vapers who's using 6 mg at like ~30 watt (but want more). Would I need 3 mg juice to not kill myself at 50 watt or so?

Argh, I ask one question and I bog you guys down with 1000 follow up questions. I'd ask at my local vape shop but I'd take their time and advice but then buy the thing online for cheaper, which is kinda rude to them.

Well, some of the "heat" issues and other things are partially determined by what type of a tank you plan on using. My particular tank is designed for blowing clouds. I can, and sometimes do, take small mouth to lung hits but I have to turn the wattage down and take very quick puffs. But yes, up around 60W the vape can start to get warm. When I am running that high, I take direct lung hits and suck the vapor as fast as I can into my lungs in order to keep the vapor from being too hot. Generally speaking, the faster you can get the air moving past your coils when you are inhaling then the cooler the vapor will be. I am currently using 10mg and sometimes 12mg nicotine, which is pretty darn high for that much power but I was a heavy smoker for many years. I mostly use 10mg liquid and am going to be lowering it soon.

Concerning the IPV D2, I already seen pre production videos on the device and it is one sweet looking device. It is almost exactly the same as the mini 2 but with temperature control. Even though temperature control is rather new and manufacturers have lots of bugs to work out, I like it.

Yes, temperature control is definitely worth a go for sure. In the future most mods will likely be temperature controlled anyway. No, you do not have to use 3MG nicotine, because like I said, I am using 12MG on 55W at times and it hasn't killed me yet..... It all depends up on the person and how much nicotine your body can handle and how much you desire. However, I definitely would not go very high with the nicotine at higher power because you can easily get way too much into your body. Lots of folks use 6MG when they are sub ohming and others use slightly more or slightly less.

Ipv mini v2 is perfect tool for your needs only recommendation is to get the silver one. It works flawlessly for me and with all the higher wattage pre built coils appearing at the moment it has enough power for you to explore new things. The D2 isn't even out yet but if your patient it will probably be worth the wait. But when do you draw the line and actually commit to buying something. There's always a new and more advanced mod round the corner. Which is why most of us have a drawer of retired mods and atomizers which still work perfectly well but have been superseded by the latest must have gadgets. Like somebody mentioned earlier shinyitis you just can't help it once you've caught the bug.
