iStick 40W TC and Kanger OCC ni200 nickel coils...what's the deal?

I recall the "easter egg" was as follows:

1. turn unit off
2. press and hold the fire button AND the up button
3. keep holding for 20 seconds
4. the "ti mode on" message ought to display
5. afterwards the center button will switch between: VW, Ni and Ti.

I used a Ti coil on my TC40 in Ni mode and all worked fine

then find out Ti mode is hidden in the firmware (couldn't really tell any diff)

• turn unit OFF
• clk fire button 20 times

should say:

I just tried and it didn't work. As soon as you get to the fifth click it turns back on.

I finally got that to work. I tried in WV mode and nothing. Then turned it off in TC mode and it worked.

Wonder why they kept that hidden?

Will titanium wire work on a device that only has a nickel setting? I'm good with kanthal but haven't tried to build with any other metal.

it will work, but for it to "work" you want to turn it down roughly 100F to get the temp you really want
