istick 50w/battery and vaper production

its me again,
hope i'm not getting to bothersome:unsure:

so!
I started vaping in the am on a full battery at 17.5w with pure vg (i'm allergic to pg) and i was very satisfied with the clouds/vapor production i was making. i'm hitting it like suggested to avoid a really hot drip tip with a good fast, hard lung hit. (in fact it made more vapor than a slow lung hit...this is not the issue tho)
about 2 hours ago my hits were getting weak. Vapor production was not like this morning. i'm using the same juice and brand. (shud be the same: right?)

the only thing i can think of is my battery is now at about 60%.
My expectation was that regardless of battery power it should be regulated and get the same results of vapor regardless of the remaining battery life?
Note: -i'm using a brand new coil put in this morning. (.5 ohm)
-tank i'm using is kanger subtank mini and my airflow are open wide...
??????

Colored or dark and especially sweet liquids clog wicking material rapidly which reduces wicking ability and gunks coils which reduces vapor production when it finally does vaporize gives off odd off funky or burnt tastes.
Some organic juices contain suspended particulates & organic sweeteners which speed up the clogging / gunking process.

Agreed. The istick 50 is regulated. From the first hit to the last you should get the same wattage. What tank are you using? If the coils aren't able to handle max VG, they're likely gunked or the wick is getting overworked. If you're allergic to PG, try thinning the juice with 5%-10% distilled water. Be aware, that coil might be shot if it's gunked. If the wick was being overworked, the DW should set you straight.

I just read your reply about the Subtank Mini. Take the coil out, rinse it off and soak it in water for about 30 minutes, then dry it. Then thin the juice as I mentioned above and reprime the coil in a fresh tankful. Let it wick for 5 minutes. Use 5% DW (1ml DW per 19ml juice)... that'll thin the juice to about a 75/25 consistency and the OCC heads should run like a champ again. These heads don't fully handle max VG all that great. 85/15 is about their limit for reliable, consistent vaping.

thank you for your answers on my kanger tank battery and vapor production. You've actually helped me in more ways than one. I was having issues as well with burnt taste and dry hits over 17.5w.

- glad to hear my istick is regulated and i didn't get a dud

1- do you think once i put DW i will be able to vape at higher wattage like the heads should be able to handle. Infact how are these people on videos vaping 35w or higher with the .5 ohm heads ? this is where i'm thinking my MOD isn't that great, but really logically and correct me if i'm wrong, whatever MOD 35watts is 35 watts just like 50watts is 50 watts?

since there are no vape shop open till tuesday here in cornwall to buy a new head and now to late to soak per ur suggestion cuz i've started to F**ck around with the pre made coils by watching videos on re-wicking them. It was fun but my result wasn't what i expected...

i pulled out gently the cotton and as per instructed i dry burned the coil to clear the gunk away until my wire got red and did this at only 6.6w. Both heads that i had i experimented with.

2- is it possible that i over dry burned the coil? Because its nice and well wicked and the juice i'm using is the same as usual (atomic juice from BC canada) and i'm still getting a slight burnt taste even my flavor is very dull in taste (almost none existence actually ) and if i pull to long and hard at just 16w i get a dry hit. but what i'm asking here is 2-was this caused by over burning the coil while dry burning it and that i f**ucked up the wire? Figured wire is wire and made to heat up.

There are videos where i can change the wire as well (don't have any right now) and hope this could fix the issue. It would be like brand new. i guess

Lastly, not sure if you saw the video on one of my other thread about the wicking performance and how to help it with subtank and how to fix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbXLOkklR1Q

4- should i do this, will it help

I really thank you for helping me...i'm lost with all this because my expectation were to high and all i want to do is chuck constant clouds at a higher wattage without fearing if i pull to long and hard i'll get a burnt taste or even a dry hit.

thank you thank you thank you for your answers and help
i'm so canadian eh!...thank you thank you...

angele

BTW, when i re wicked the coil it actually gave me more vapor which is what of course was the goal, but with the above issues, lack of flavor, can't burn more than 16w, if hard and to long of hit dry burn and of course the burnt taste as mentioned in detailed above

The biggest problem with dry firing those sub tank coils is the little rubber grommet/insulator that holds the coils will start to melt and burn a little. Even if you don't notice it.

I've seen people do it and seemed to be fine. But I don't really trust it. They've even been known to burn vaping at too high of wattages just during normal use. I don't remember if it was the subtank coils or not. But one of those tank coils.

Yeah, sounds like your occ coil is toast. You'll need a whole new coil head. Once you get one, DO try poking holes VERY shallowly into the wicking holes. Helps a little. The DW is going to make a HUGE difference, though. Start at 5% and see how that works. If not good enough, work slowly up to 10%. Personally, I'd say not to bother trying to rebuild or rewick the occ heads... it's a pain to get the wicking right and you might have had it too tightly bunched up.
