Hi
Can an external battery mod being used over 35W with a 0.5 resistance coil.
My search said with the
  • 0.5 ohm coil it works (with the 4.2 Volts 18650 battery) for 35W
  • 0.3 ohm coil works 58W
  • 0.2 ohm coil works 88W
But what if the battery is not fully charged? It can operate with the 3.7 Volts when its half charged?
I started to use my Pico with the .3 coil around 30-40 W, and it was nice taste with big clouds (on longer inhale it started to warm the vape a little). After 3 weeks i need to change the coil i only have the .5 so i put it in. I used in the same Wattage but the Volts goes up, and the taste was not the same (dry hit, burnt taste). I try to goes up in Watts to get better taste it works better when it started to "warmed up", the battery's temperature increased. On 50 Watts it shows 5.00 Volts. What is that it need 5 Volts to operate on that Wattage?
The puffs was not the same like on the .3 ohm coil, first 4-5 puffs was dry and can't inhale long.
I burnt out 2 coils in 3 days because not wait for the wicking (chainvapeing), or because of the bad wattage set up.

Now i try to use it with the .5 coil on beetween 25-33W but not enough vape with these settings. Yesterday my Vape mail arrived and i fill up my melo 3 with a new juice put in the .3 coil and it is uncomparable with the 0.5 ohm coil. Now i can use the MOD up to 50-58W and stay in the battery's limit, my sweet spot is change it depends on the juice i use and the VG PG ratio i think. Now it is 38.5W with a 70/30 liquid.

I had a lot of questions in this thread if some of you is experienced more in this please share with me your experiences.
Good Vapeing

As long as the coil resistance is within the operating parameters of a regulated power device the resistance doesn't factor in to determining battery amp drain/demand.

The batteries you're using LG HG2 & Sony VTC4 will both supply sufficient amps to safely vape 50w - 60w.

Just before & at the power device low voltage cutoff amp demand will be highest.

The LG HG2 should be able to handle 58 watts. Neither the mod of the battery will go to 88W.

I don't really understand why the need for such high wattage on a .5 ohm coil as 35W. I am using currently a .5 ohm coil on a PICO 75w with the same battery at 17W and there is a large amount of vapor coming out of it. Any more and I would probably be coughing.

With the Melo 2 it is not really operate under 20W for me and there is no any taste of the vapor.

I use the 0.3 and the 0.5ohm Eleaf coils.

They don't work quite the same; Eleaf seem to be confused about the capability of these coils.

None of them will produce much vapor under 25 watts (so I understand your comment about 20w) and both will burn out quick if you push them too hard.

Also, the Melo 3 has some vacuum issues which means the e-liquid sometimes doesn't get flowing very well.
I would guess I use the 0.5ohm from 28-35w and the 0.3ohm from 30-40w. They rarely cause any trouble.

I had issues with the Melo 3 but when i double check all the o rings one of them was rolled , i fix that and no problem with the tank from that time i cleaned it 3 times overall. Works very well for me, much better than the Melo 2 (i ordered the Melo 2 becouse of the issues of the Melo 3 (leaking)).

I preferr nowdays the Melo 3 with the 0.3 coil it is works best for me now. Just on the way to me is the 0.2 ohm Supertank coil, it has bigger juice hole, that will be my next try.

Even if you get an anemic vape to start it's still good to start low and work your way up. As you say, there are many variables, including juice. If you start doing that consistently I think you will be happier with your flavor(s). I now vape far lower than I ever did, on a 2 battery mod. 10 watts. So, things change over time, but I think 30-40 watts on your device should be fine.
