Howdy all! I am a beginner to vaping and I bought a pico melo III about 3 months ago and need to change the coil because it taste nasty. I watched a video where a guy had his apart, but when I attempted to disassemble the base to get to the coil, it would not come apart. I know I should have not taken a pair of pliers to take it off, but it simply will not come out. Is there a trick to getting the base off and changing the coil, or did someone at the manufacture assemble it wrong and that is the reason it is not coming off? HELP ME PLEASE! I kept turning the part where you can adjust the flow of the air in several positions while pulling, but still no luck! I am just so aggravated right now with this device. I bought a cheaper one before i purchased this one and it kept shocking me really bad so I had to return it. I seem to be having bad luck. I purchased mine form The VAPEMALL.

Did you use pliers to open it? The base should come off allowing you to replace the factory coil. It's hard to say what the issue was, but I'm sure someone who owns a Melo III will be along and perhaps provide more specific info. I will say on any tank, especially fresh from the factory, they might arrive over-tightened. Tricks to opening run from using a rubber glove for better grip, to placing the tank in the freezer for 15 minutes and then trying to unscrew.

okay, i will try the freezer and rubber glove trick. thank you for the advice. it came with the coil already assembled in the tank, so..... my guess is the way they assembled it is the issue. it just sucks that i scratched up the base really bad with pliers. the device is not that old, maybe the place i purchased it from will assist me because i had an issue with the first eleaf i purchased? that is, if the tricks you suggested do not work. many thanks, i would have never thought to try those tricks. :)

Hi I have melo 3 l got with the pico starter kit and I've got about 2 or 3 months of experience with it but I haven't had any trouble with it so yours sound like it could be a factory defect in witch case it might be likely that there are burs in the threads of either the deck portion of the tank or the body/chimney portion or that those parts are cross threaded so if you haven't already checked that might be something to Look at. And as getting a good grip goes something I do when changing the coil in the tank I like to clean my tank out so with the melo 3 I unscrew the top cap, remove the glass and grab it by the upper o ring where the fill holes are and by the deck it seems to work good with very little effort. Sorry the thread was so long but I hope it helps

Welcome!

Be REALLY careful if you try pliers - you might want to put some rubber bands around the "Atomizer Base" and the "Air Pipe" before you scratch or deform. (This coming from personal experience ;) )

Once you get the Base and the Pipe apart, it kind of doesn't matter about the coil if you trash it (at this point it's probably toast?)

When you get it disassembled and are ready to reassemble, "snug", but not "over-tight" is all you need for the pieces of this tank, and that includes the coil in the base.

I had to watch a video on this. I guess just make sure you are only turning the base and not the airflow. Failing that... take the tank off the mod. Take apart any parts you can get off, and drain any juice you can. After that, fill a bowl with hot tap water, drop the tank in that and leave it set, you can check every hour, change the water if you want after you check. There is nothing there hot tap water can hurt. (tap water, not boiling)
After soaking a few hours, try holding it with a dry towel, A cotton dish towel would be best, they are thin, lint free, and absorbent. Some may or may not suggest alcohol, I didn't because alcohol will damage rubber and plastic. You could also try running the base part under hot tap water just before you try to remove it. This will expand the warmer parts very slightly, but it might be just enough to make the difference.

If you saw a video where someone took the head apart it is the ECR re-buildable head. Just in case some of you folks got your hands on them. They are easy to rebuild, I just slapped a new coil in with fresh cotton today.
The EC heads are a great convenience, but having a ECR head on hand is nice too

I LOVE this RBA. I also have the Triton RBA - it's o.k., but a little "weirder" because of how the legs mount. I prefer this, as it's so similar to my PT2 heads and my eGo ONE CLR heads.... Mommee likes simplicity :D
