Have had mine almost 6 months now, no problems, no "fade" on usage.
While it's true that replaceable battery mods have the feature of just getting a new battery and using the same mod, for the price of the MVP - if you don't already have batteries and charger - you can't go wrong.
Say it's your only device, and you charge it three times a week. Average life span would then be (low end?) 300/3 = 100 weeks.
I imagine that, during that two years, you'll find another toy or two
