Just got this in and it's my first vv/vw. I have several tanks ranging from 1.5 to 2.4 ohms. If I set the wattage for 8 will the voltage change automatically? When I swap tanks with different resistance will it change then also? That is what i read before I ordered but when I go into the setting the voltage hasn't changed. Am I doing something wrong? I have been going into the setting and changing the voltage manually.

I'm gonna say that you are going to need to change the settings manually. I've had mine for a few months and do not recall there ever being a time would it would adjust automatically. I very rarely use the wattage settings though because I simply prefer the voltage.
If you set it to 8 watts, it will change the voltage for you. It won't show that if you look at the voltage setting though, that still shows the voltage mode set point. You're actually switching it back to voltage mode when you do that.
You can set the voltage OR the wattage. If you have it set it for variable wattage, it will produce the same wattage irregardless of the resistance of the topper. Watch a couple of U-tube vidioes on the device to get a better idea how these things work together.

I use VW all the time on the VV Ver 3.0 and yes, it does adjust voltage automatically for you. If you go to the voltage setting after you have set the wattage, all you are doing is going into voltage mode. It won't show you how much the voltage is at the wattage you've set. You will need a meter that allows you to put the load and the source on, like an inline voltage tester to verify this.
This. ^^^^^^^^^Think two different modes that operate completely separate from each other and one isn't affected by the other.
In wattage mode the device will alter voltage to match what you set for your wattage level its good if you have alot of tanks you switch around its a set and forget type setting
just want to add...
that when you are in wattage mode, and you hold down the + and - button....the volts that shows is the power left in your battery....not the volts you're vaping at on the wattage you set

Thanks for the fast responses. That's what I was thinking but wanted to be sure so I wouldn't burn anything up. So I'll just keep it on 8 and vape. Just out of curiosity what does the MVP offer over this vv3?

This is correct, from my understanding. I wish it would change the display of voltage based on the wattage last set, just because I'm curious, but it doesn't. I pretty much just use wattage, and generally stay between 6 and 8.5 for the tanks I use. At that level, it works fine (pt 2 mini's and iClear 16's). Some juice tastes better at the higher or lower end of that range.
A bit wider of a voltage range(3.3-5 to 3-6) and whole lot more battery capacity (about 3x)
And the ability to use it as a back up battery source with the power out feature.

Ok I watched the video which posed another question. If I'm using a 1.5 ohm coil is it safe to run the watts up above 8? Will the vv3 keep the setting safe?

It's all about the cool factor right?
Set it to what ever is giving the best vape. Start low and work your way up, when it starts to taste burnt dial it back it a bit and your usually good to go. At least that what works for me. Also different juices taste better at different watts. Some are better warm and some are better a bit cooler but it's all up to personal preference.

8 is ok, I think 8.5 is the highest it'll fire on a 1.5ohm. Any higher is over the amp limit.
Edit: that's one big advantage of the MVP besides the cool factor (seriously, it'll almost charge 2 iPhones fully. Not that we ever do that). Higher amp limit, so I can run higher wattages on lower resistance coils. I have a 1.4ohm on mine I've been vaping at 10 watts, and I could go higher if I wanted to

No one should be forced to watch rip tripper. That dude needs more than some E-juice in his vape
Keep your coils at or above 1.5 and you'll be safe. Theoretically, the device should not let you vape above it's set limits but no sense in pushing things. After all, you don't want to break your new toy!
