Button tops aren't available from the factories. Normally someone has to buy the stock batteries and then mod them to add the nipple in. So, they're more expensive. Their real purpose is polarity protection and most regulated mods have that built in to the chip today. So it's an extra cost option that really doesn't add value.

The new tactical lights also have the same polarity protection... I expect that's going to be the new norm.
