It's like I've lost a limb or something

I've quit smoking for a few months now and I've had no regrets whatsoever - until now.

I peeked inside my humidor and found one Cohiba Piramides and one Cohiba Lanceros left. Oh boy, just opening the box and sniffing those cigars made me sooo horny. I thought, what the hell, I've never inhaled cigar smoke anyway so it's not like smoking, and I don't want to smoke at all. But the pleasure of a cigar... Well, that's just something else.

So, confident in my being in no danger of picking up smoking again, I grabbed the cutter, cut the Piramides, poured me a glass of Armagnac, sat in my favorite armchair, lit the piramides, and... eew, yuck and triple yuck!

But it's a cigar. As cigar smokers know, the first third tastes like hay, the second third is great, and the final third tastes like manure. So I kept at it, but it kept getting yuckier and yuckier. And I kept getting sicker and sicker. And the lounge kept smelling fouler and fouler.

So I put it out. There goes a very nice 60 euro cigar :( I opened up all the window and went take a shower to get the stench off my hair. The house stinks to high heaven and it's gonna be that way for a long while.

Dammit, smoking a good cigar and mellowing out for a couple hours used to be as good as an orgasm - well, perhaps I'm exaggerating just a little... Not being able to enjoy a good cigar anymore feels like having lost something dear to me right now.

But no worries, vaping has given me much more than it's taken away from me, and the piramides hasn't given me the urge to smoke again in the slightest. Quite the contrary. Still, I feel empty inside somehow.

I vape however, I do still enjoy the occasional fine cigar although not as often. My humidor is still well stocked and I keep it at a constant 70/70 so the contents will stay preserved for years to come.

What I haven't done is to buy any new inventory for a long time.

Instead of visiting different tobacconists when out and about, I visit different vaporys!

You could look into cigar flavored juices

If there's one thing I learned with vaping, it's that the one thing no juice maker seems to get right is tobacco-flavored juices. The only decent one I've found was the Würziger Tabak from LiXXs Liquids in Germany. It was a great juice for me to transition from cigarettes to vaping, and then it started tasting odd. Now if I go back to it - as I keep some to give to smoker friends who want to quit, the way I did - it sort of tastes of tobacco-flavored baboon vomit.

As for cigar juices, I even went so far as to make my own, from real cigars. My juices are okay - albeit a bit weak - but it's nothing like the rich tapestry of flavors a real, burning cigar gives off when the tip reaches that magical section of the cigar, when the stars are aligned and you're in heaven for 10/15 minutes.

There's no secret: a cigar tastes the way it tastes because it burns. If it doesn't burn, it ain't never gonna taste right. And we all know not having to burn plant leaves to get nicotine is exactly what vaping is all about. As a result, I reckon there's something profundly incompatible between tobacco-flavors and e-liquids. Kind of like fake meat made with soybeans: sure your soy steak is reminiscent of a real steak, but it's never gonna taste the same without the carcinogenic burnt oils that cause the taste of a good steak in the first place.

this is true however there is a more effective way to truly trick yourself...

armagnac... find what you pair your cigar with, and work on adding that flavor as well...

whenever i would smoke a cigar, i would (depending on the cigar) have whatever alcohol, my regular was a waffe by acid it was a rectangular cigar and it was nice, especially when complimented with a good rum and coke...

to replicate that experience i would highly suggest mixing some of that compatible alcohol with the cigar flavor... it may not be the same, however the addition of what you taste with it should help trick your brain into enjoying the stimulus further than you would otherwise... also add in the actual beverage with it...

the combination of this may not make it the same, but it should make it more similar than it is currently...

I have tried Longhorn from HALO and it is amazingly close to a cigar, give it a try. Also available from here...

Me too. It definitely seemed like cigar to me, but I have never been a cigar smoker. I'm not big into it, but there is the huge naturally extracted tobacco flavors thread in the ejuice sub forum.
