How have your tastes changed or even stayed the same over the course of your vaping?

When I first started vaping I only wanted to use prefilled cartos as I thought handling and dripping "juice" was incredibly nasty, dangerous and goofy! That changed.

My first flavors were classic tobacco flavors from SafeCig and I immediately knew I was a tobacco vaper. I felt that all the other flavors available were for kiddy tastebuds and I wanted no part in vanilla anything.

I left SafeCig and moved to Smokeless Image (thanks SteelJan), then I felt the shift from silly vaping to the more modern version. I started out with Cappucino from SI and loved it; then I tried their RY4 and I knew I was a full fledged vaper!

Fast forward a couple years and I don't like synthetic flavors all that much anymore, though I have a few, but I am still VERY much a tobacco vaper, even more so.

What is the longest you've stuck with one vendor or even one juice?

GoodeJuice (their "House Brewed Line") has been one of my favorite vendors now coming up on a year. And while I don't buy from HHV anymore, I would, and they have been at least considered to be some of the best I've ever had, also coming up on a year.

What are some of the juices that you used to LOVE but would not vape now if someone gave it to you for free?

Smokeless Image Cappuccino. I don't know who told them that juice was cappuccino but it ain't! OMG. That juice was my fav, but one day I actually began tasting it--actually, I realized what it was, or rather, what it was not when I bought my first 30 mL of it. That was my first actual juice purchase and the last purchase of that flavor. I may, may, try it if someone gave it to me, but I would do it with extreme trepidation.

Any vendors you'd like to revisit?

I would like to revisit Vaperite. While I don't think my memory fails me regarding their juices I've tried, if I was being honest, I would have to say that I hadn't tried enough from them to give them a fair enough shot. Or, at the very least, I would just need to be a lot more careful in what I try from them.

Any flavors that you currently vape that you never thought you'd vaping?

Well, yeah (feels weird answering my own questions like that! LOL) As I said, any flavors that are not tobacco was my original non-crossing line. Now, as long as it is done properly (mostly if it is from the actual product it means to replicate) I can get down with it. I think Ahlusion desserts, drink flavors and teas (especially the desserts) surprised me the most with how much they satisfy me. As an aside, Ahlusion teas work on a similar level as their tobaccos--maybe it's something about leaves? ha ha hahaha

ECBlends has some good ish. People sleep on them because of the prices...they sell a ton of product. For instance, unless they do this as a ruse, the last two bottles I ordered had a number vastly greater than 2 month previous. If I told you how much, you wouldn't believe it. Your prices would be low too!

Started out with desserts and lab-baccos, and now I vape mostly NET tobaccos. Still keep room in my rotation for desserts, and the occasional fruit or tea, but they're not really my main thing. I like to think my taste has improved, but hey, who doesn't?

What is the longest you've stuck with one vendor or even one juice?

I started vaping in January 2012 with prefilled cartos. My first vendors were VapeKing and Tasty Vapor. Still order from both of them.

What are some of the juices that you used to LOVE but would not vape now if someone gave it to you for free?

DK-TAB. Possibly if it were the last juice on earth....maybe.

Any vendors you'd like to revisit?

I just did--TastyVapor. I started my vaping journey with their sweet juices and now nearly a year later I'm vaping their only tobacco juice, which is a NET;)

Any flavors that you currently vape that you never thought you'd vaping?

Super hardcore tobaccos. And MINT! Plume Room's Creamy Mint was my MINT EPIPHANY. I was the sort of smoker who, when bumming a smoke, would turn down a menthol. I really really really disliked mint until TPR Creamy Mint. It's barely minty at all though, that's probably why I like it LOL. 90% vanilla-10% mint, really.

How have your tastes changed or even stayed the same over the course of your vaping?

I first tried vaping quite some time ago, probably a couple of years or so and it was more to see if it was a direction that I would find satisfying or not. I first ordered a Blu kit and then later some carto's from Volcano. I tried several of the flavors they both carried... found that the menthol ( which I smoke also )... was the ones I found were the most satisfying but something, mostly flavor-wise, was still missing. My budget was extremely limited ( having started my own business a few years earlier ) so instead of continuing to find the "right" vape... I put it down for the time.

I started up again during mid February 2012, this is when I really think I actually started with the first time just a trial. To begin again, I ordered an eGo ( since a 510 didn't last long ) and a 510 kit for the ease it provides for carrying etc. Along with the equipment... I got a variety of the menthols types that MyFreedomSmokes carried at the time. The menthols were fair at best so I started researching e-liquid vendors on ECF and by March... I'd already found one of my favorites... Highbrow Vapor ( HBV ) who has several NET types that I still thoroughly enjoy.. they were complex flavors unlike any of the few others I'd tried.

I've tried many different types of e-liquids - drinks, desserts, bakery etc and found them really nice but they weren't what I wanted... from that point on, I've focused on tobacco vapes all with menthol and none matched what I got from HBV. It was at this point, that I switched from looking at e-liquids and started looking for the "perfect" equipment and more than anything, focusing on the juice delivery systems ( JDS ) that best suited my own needs or wants.

At the end of this last February, I found I still hadn't found the right e-liquid that completely satisfied me and still hadn't put down cigarettes due to that. I had already tried increasing the nic content and that didn't help.. so it wasn't the nic I was missing. So I got introspective and looked closely at what I was enjoying the most when smoking a real cig vs what I was enjoying vaping. The main difference I could detect were the feel of the smoke vs the flavor... the smoke was thicker feeling... I don't mean a stronger throat hit like seen with more nic... but the actual thickness that the smoke felt like when inhaling. I found the answer accidently when vaping a high VG content e-liquid while trying other NET tobacco's out.

The other big difference, more than anything else, was the cigs have a very simple tobacco flavor... their blends were not complex in the same way that the NET's I'd been vaping were. It is almost odd to me... to find that a simple almost mono type of tobacco flavor may be more of what I was looking for instead of the more interesting and complex flavors that many NET's have. I found one NET vendor that has 3-4 that were just that... a simple flavor that still was rich in flavor and they varied from a light flavor to a heavier one. MyVapeJuice is that vendor and the NET flavors are ( from light to heavier ) Savage, Rogue, My Hero and Country Squire. I know of many that find these lacking, but I suspect it isn't that they are lacking... it is that they are simple mono types and that they don't find them as interesting as the more complex ones, which is certainly understandable.

I still vape the more interesting and complex NET's... in fact, I'm still looking for more. I've simply found that complex flavors isn't all there are... sometime it is the simple ones that I find a satisfaction in that is more like the cigs. So once again... that old saying holds true at times... it is the simple things in life.

What is the longest you've stuck with one vendor or even one juice?

I'm still vaping several NET's from HBV, now for over a year. The only downside I find is that they clog coils quickly so I'm now vaping newer NET's from other vendors that are "cleaner".

What are some of the juices that you used to LOVE but would not vape now if someone gave it to you for free?

I feel lucky to have found HBV early on and only have had to look at others to help find something else that is more satisfying... something a bit more simple as it turns out. So I have found several I wouldn't vape but none that I had once loved and moved on from.

Any vendors you'd like to revisit?

None yet at this time.

Any flavors that you currently vape that you never thought you'd vaping?

I'd have to say that a couple of the tobacco with other sweet flavors ( ie RY4 and similar ). After trying other types of flavors besides the tobaccos and not getting much satisfaction... I was surprised that I did enjoy them once paired with tobacco notes.

Have enjoyed reading the answers to your questions MrMann. :)

How have your tastes changed or even stayed the same over the course of your vaping?
I thought they had changed a lot, but now that I look back, they really haven't changed much since 12/2011. I still like coffee flavored and fruity or dessert type juices.
The one thing that has changed is that I prefer more subtle flavors most of the time now. Probably due to the taste buds not being coated with tar anymore.

What is the longest you've stuck with one vendor or even one juice?
7 months - altcig Churro

What are some of the juices that you used to LOVE but would not vape now if someone gave it to you for free?
Kona Coffee Milkshake & Kona Velvet Milkshake

Any vendors you'd like to revisit?
I'm pretty much happy with DIY now, but will continue to buy the Churro when it's on sale. And it's on sale today! :)

Any flavors that you currently vape that you never thought you'd be vaping?
Hmmm....I guess it was a bit of a surprise to me how much I like hazelnut and coconut as mixers.

My vaping history (5 months) is almost entirely in the Natural Tobacco thread. I knew tobacco flavor was what I wanted from the beginning and was lucky to find that thread very early on. Most of the few non-tobacco flavors I've tried just don't make sense to my taste buds so I vape NETs.

By reading reviews and impressions of various juices on the NT thread, I have been very fortunate to try very few juices I didn't like and have found none unvapeable! For anyone who wants to find great tobacco flavor, visit that thread. It has become quite long, but if you post and ask questions many there are more than willing to help.

I smoked fairly light cigarettes mostly for about 37 years. To my surprise, I have found that my favorite naturally extracted juice flavors are mostly stronger pipe tobaccos! So far, the NETs from three vendors fill up the top of my favorites list and I will reorder from them as well as occasionally testing new ones.

How have your tastes changed or even stayed the same over the course of your vaping?

They have changed but not too vastly, because of a wonderful person ( mr mann ) who took me under his wings and introduced me to the wonderful world of NET tobaccos

What is the longest you've stuck with one vendor or even one juice?
That would have to be THe Plume Room, IE Ramaglias Toscano , love it , most of The Plume Rooms tobaccos.

What are some of the juices that you used to LOVE but would not vape now if someone gave it to you for free?
That would be anything by RawR especially the tobaccos.

Any vendors you'd like to revisit?
Goodejuice, great tobaccos

Any flavors that you currently vape that you never thought you'd vaping?

mint flavours, love them in between tobacco for cleansing the taste buds

All I know is that now that Im so used to high quality ingredients its hard to handle cheap ones, especially synthetic tobacco , its like trying to use sweet and low instead of good ole cane sugar. I also cannot stand ejuice that is overly sweet that you can taste the sucralose.

Thank you Mr Mann.

Great thread, Mann!

How have your tastes changed or even stayed the same over the course of your vaping?

I've been vaping on and off since '09 and and back then I'd just order from whatever company I happened to find by chance, or whatever was cheapest. When I became an exclusive vaper (i.e. no analogs) back in Feb. of last year, I started vaping mostly NETs and have stuck with it, although I've branched out some to the occasional fruit, tea, or dessert.

What is the longest you've stuck with one vendor or even one juice?

I've been pretty much exclusive to two vendors since the end of last summer. There are still some individual juices that I have been ordering for over a year now from different vendors, including AVE's Boba's Bounty and Gorilla Juice and ePipeMods' Long Bottom Leaf. Even if I put them down for a while, I always come back.

What are some of the juices that you used to LOVE but would not vape now if someone gave it to you for free?

Used to love anything from Backwoods Brew's tobaccos. I'm not sure if they've changed or if I have, but it's just not for me anymore. Same with Halo.

Any vendors you'd like to revisit?

Once I move on, I tend to move on.

Any flavors that you currently vape that you never thought you'd vaping?

Never thought I'd order anything with "cake" in the title! :)

How have your tastes changed or even stayed the same over the course of your vaping?

I think they've mostly stayed the same. I never cared for the TASTE of a cigarette, I was always only in it for the nicotine. Menthol was my type, because it helped mask the tobacco flavors. I would occasionally smoke a cigar (only a good Cuban), and usually only when drinking to excess. But even those, after the first 1/4 of the cigar, became too much. So I was drawn to vaping primarily to get off the cancer sticks while keeping the social aspect of smoking for joining friends outside for a smoke, but also to get away from the tobacco flavor.

I started with Smokeless Image volts. A few of their flavors were quite good, and while I haven't had them in a long time, I would probably still like them. The problem with volts was the tiny batteries and refilling those cartridges. So I moved to Ego's and Vivi's and realized I had to find a bulk juice supply. This was a big letdown. I ordered 24 different flavors of Dekang to learn what kind of flavors I liked, and didn't like. All I learned, is that I didn't like Dekang. So I moved to Alice in Vapeland which had good reviews. They make nice juice, but to me, they were either to subtle, or too strong. Then I found the vendor I use now and with 150 choices, I need no other. This all took place over the course of my first two months of vaping.

What is the longest you've stuck with one vendor or even one juice?

At the end of my second month of vaping, I realized I didn't like what Vivi tanks did to my juice, so I tried dripping atty's, and LOVED them. A PITA sometimes, yes, but flavor was the objective, and flavor they deliver! The juice vendor I use now, I have used for 6 months, and I stopped looking. AIV was good, but their juices fall apart after a few months. The vendor I use now, some of their juices aren't even at their BEST until they are a few months old. I have some that are 6 months old, and they are different, but as good or better than when new.

But as a dripper, I keep about 40 flavors within arms reach, and probably average 12-15 different flavors over the course of a day. I love the variety, how I can choose a flavor to suit my mood or to match the beverage I am having, or the time of day. I have them in strengths from 24mg/ml to 6mg/ml and that partly influences my choices throughout the day. I use strong in the early morning, and lighter nic as the day progresses. So the idea of an "All Day Vape" is not something I have ever tried to achieve. It is completely outside of my way of thinking about vaping.

What are some of the juices that you used to LOVE but would not vape now if someone gave it to you for free?

None. I would happily still vape the two or three SI flavors I liked when I was new to this if I had no other choices. I still would vape the AIV flavors I liked, but I wouldn't buy large quantities. I went to Vapebash last weekend. I only brought a little of my favorite juices, because I thought there would be tons of samples available and I would find plenty to vape there. I was wrong, on both counts. "Take away" samples were VERY scarce. Of the many vendors there, I did not find a SINGLE juice that I would buy. I guess I am spoiled by my current vendor, and by my past experience with AIV. I tried most of the vendors at Vapebash, and they were mostly very simple, often soapy or chemical, or I could taste base/nic that did NOT taste as clean and pure as I am accustomed to.

Any vendors you'd like to revisit?

Nope. I see a few vendors get high praise. If someone gave me some samples, I would try them. But if I am opening my wallet, I am pretty confident in my current supplier that I will like what I get. I am sorting through the 150 flavors as quick as I can (Which will easily take two years) and once I have identified my top 10 or 15, I will buy those in the largest quantity available, and enjoy my final nirvana into my golden years. I guess I will always have an eye out for something fantastic from someone else. It could happen, but my experience previous to my current vendor, and my experience at Vapebash, leaves me doubtful.

Any flavors that you currently vape that you never thought you'd vaping?

Haha.. MOST of them. I even wander (again, a drinking thing) onto the dark side of NET's on occasion. I am surprised more often than not at how I end up loving things I didn't think would be that special, and being less enthusiastic about flavors that I thought would be slam dunk favorites. Hence, the need to try all 150 to be sure I have left no stone unturned, no frog unkissed, and no gem unearthed. And as you yourself know, Mr. Mann, that profiling thing can turn something that could have been a B grade, into an A+.

Oh man this made me laugh. I did the same when I started, but with one of the cheapest American vendors instead of Dekang. They weren't all bad, but I mis-learned early on that I don't like apple, I don't like chai, and I don't like cheesecake. Turned out I like all kinds of apple, just not theirs. Chai, completely disgusting when done wrong, but amazing when done right.

I started with Green Smoke Absolute, Vanilla Dreams and Red Label pre-filled cartomizers. I was completely over the taste of cigarettes from my 2 1/2 pack a day habit once I took my first vape of Absolute which I loved—haven't had a cigarette nor particularly wanted one since. I found a dead ringer for Absolute in UpStomp's White Spur from LJ's eSmokes

I also quite liked the taste of Green Smokes Vanilla Dreams and found a better vanilla flavor in Heather's Heavenly Vapes Vanilla Dreams. I still like White Spur and Vanilla Dreams although neither are regulars in my juice rotation.

It took less than a week for me to get over Green Smoke's battery charging Ground Hog Day so I did some checking on customer service and moved on to Twists from Vapor Beast. I picked up some of their Bee's Knees and Peachy Keen. Bee's Knees has been loaded in one of my PVs ever since and Peachy Keen makes frequent appearances in my juice rotation. Since then I've added their Mad Monkey as an always-loaded juice.

Giddy with the delightful flavors I had tried I moved on to ordering juices from most of the more highly rated ECF juice vendors with high expectations. It was the most frustrating experience of my vaping life. I found only a few juices that were just OK in the over 130 that I tried and much fewer that I would actually consider reordering.

Thankfully, when I was getting near panic that I would only have a few juices between me and cigarettes, Ahlusion started taking orders again after their move. At this point in my vaping life all but a handful of my juices come from Ahlusion or Vapor Beast.

I liken Vapor Beast's juices to my grandmother's fabulous home cooking from their organic farm and Ahlusion's to five star restaurant dining where the chef is a master flavor artist. Vapor Beast supplies my comfort vapes while Ahlusion broadens my palette in nearly magical ways. Having both of those needs met is very reassuring to me.

I've read on ECF that many people's preferences in juices change over time but mine really haven't. I still like everything that initially impressed me, the meh flavors are still meh when I've revisited them and the ones that I initially thought were dreck remain dreck.

I haven't been at all surprised about the flavors I do like but have been disappointed about not being able to find vanilla, caramel and butterscotch flavors that I think are outstanding. One thing that seems odd, however, is that all non-aromatic tobaccos I've tried taste like a gas station bathroom deodorizer smells despite all having ECF raves.

There are no juice vendors that I care to revisit since my juice sampling adventures were so frustratingly unproductive.

Like many, I started with tobacco flavors. After 2 months or so my taste buds went to war and I started what's know in my household as "the great tobacco hunt of 2012". I did not realize that my buds had turned anti-tobacco flavor. I began to try combos like cherry tobacco, apple tobacco, yada yada. That's when I discovered I was a fruity kind of guy...who knew.

One of the first hybrids I tried was Sweet Swish from HHV. It doesn't get much love (or any love for that matter) around here, but it's been one of my go to juices for 6 months. I also found Georgia Peach tobacco and I like most grape flavors I've tried.

All of my original tobacco flavors are gathering dust in my Zombie Apocalypse stash, and I will never go back to them.

How have your tastes changed or even stayed the same over the course of your vaping?

I started out loving the hot Cinnamons...but then I realized I needed a little fruit..a little cake. I still love my fruits and in the morning more often then not, I have my morning zen of fruit and cake. More and more, I like my fruits and twist them with the icy kiss of mint. My tastebuds have had major ADHD, and to be honest, I have only recently settled my behind down from "OH MY GOD I MUST TRY EVERYTHING!!!" to just enjoying my vaping without the need for constant searching.

What is the longest you've stuck with one vendor or even one juice?

I am currently only using one vendor, and have been using them exclusively since August 2012. I will keep using them until I stop vaping, or they stop making my liquids...at which point I would more then likely just stop vaping.

What are some of the juices that you used to LOVE but would not vape now if someone gave it to you for free?

Nah, I would keep them for in case of emergency...and then toss them when they expire.

Any vendors you'd like to revisit?

Sometimes I miss Ms. T's Strawberry Gum. That was some good juice.

Any flavors that you currently vape that you never thought you'd vaping?

Canyon Sun from my favorite (and only) vendor. It's Cranberries. It's oranges. It's a hint of grapefruit (at least I think so) and I freaking love it. I don't vape it as much as I used to, but it makes a great treat when I just want something a little different. Oh and the minty in my fruity??? Who'da thunk it?

Bottom line..I went the spectrum of little teeny purple 808's to the Leo..to the Lea...and now a diehard Vmodian. I ran the gamut searching for MY special vendor..and finally found it. I sometimes think it would be nice to branch out, try new things...but lately, I just keep thinking "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". I love what I love and it's so nice to just have that sigh of relief and confidence ordering the things I know I enjoy from the companies I am used to. It's awesome waking up in the morning and knowing just what I want to vape in the morning, during the day, and at night. What's more, is I am proud to say that I have now been analog free almost 2 years and it has been an awesome journey.:2cool:

I've noticed (and I'm seeing that here in some of the posts) that shifts in juice preference often follow equipment upgrades. Interesting phenomenon, but it just goes to show that different gear will bring out different qualities in a given juice (for better or worse). For me it's been a one-man arms race. I find better juice which leads me to seek out better equipment to bring out the juice's full potential, then I end up needing better juice to live up to the potential of the upgraded equipment that I have, etc. etc.

Unrelated thought, but Mouiex's post made me think of something. I never really enjoyed cigarettes, but they were a convenient way to get the nicotine I'd become addicted to through cigars and pipes. What intrigued me about vaping was a healthier way to get the nicotine with the convenience (or near convenience) of a cigarette, but the potential flavor possibilities of cigars and pipes. This has fueled juice my search, and it's nice to have finally found some juices that are living up to that potential. I'd have a hard time going back to some of the faux pipe and cigar juices that were a big disappointment to me early on.

I sure wish I hadn't missed the "be" in "Any flavors that you currently vape that you never thought you'd __ vaping?" LOL

Thanks, Mo, Tez ad everyone who has contributed.

p.s. Mo, you are just about the most clever dude I know! Needle in the hay. ;)

Oh, flatterer! You know I eat it for breakfast. Truth of the matter, is most of what I know, I learned from you.

Thank you for your very kind words, Mr. Mann.

Tez, regarding your first paragraph--I noticed the same thing. I know that when I spoke about my first juice purchase, SI's Cappuccino, it was when I got a Volt 2 (whatever they call those ego like ones) that the juice was absolutely terrible (it was fine in the skinny batts). The funny thing is all of the SI juices didn't really hold up to more power. That lead me to search for different juice, and that was where I accidentally found out about what was REALLY out there. It is a lot like chasing one's tail at times, but occasionally, you get to nip that sucker!

I've been vaping for 13 months now, and I can't say my juice flavors have changed much. My very first vape flavor was lemonade, and I was in love. However, I was never able to find another like it, and the lemonade from the vendor I first bought from tended to taste different every time I ordered it, much to my dismay. So then after some searching I found Mrs. T's snickerdoodle and that became a mainstay until August 2012 when I found my current vendor and have not purchased from any other vendor since.

What is the longest you've stuck with one vendor or even one juice?

8 months with my current vendor - Ahhhh - pure bliss

What are some of the juices that you used to LOVE but would not vape now if someone gave it to you for free?

Can't really think of any off the top of my head - the ones that were so bad I can't even remember the names.

Any vendors you'd like to revisit?

I'm not sure I have the desire to re-visit any other vendor, with maybe the exception of HHV and Mrs. T's for the snickerdoodle.

Any flavors that you currently vape that you never thought you'd vaping?

Coffee, coffee, and coffee!! My absolute favorite flavor, and I detest the taste of a cup of coffee - go figure!

As far as batteries go, I started with a basic kit, and moved on to eGo twists, Vision Spinners, Provari, Vmod, just to name a few. I like to keep things simple, and the Vision Spinner 1300 mAh seems to do the trick for me. As far as tanks/carts, etc. I sometimes drip, but again, for ease of use, I still use Vivi Nova's and have recently bought some Kangars. I still love my glass tanks, but they tend to be inconvenient.
