Ah. <internet hug> There are many books I used to read as a kid like the Anne McCaffery Pern series' and Heinlein that I no longer have access to as they went with dad. Original printings and artwork well loved by me all through elementary and middle school. I've recently been trying to gain copies with the covers I remember from when I was a kid. The new cover art sucks. Alas, original copies from the 70s and 80s tend to be in bad condition or expensive.

I have found that I am able to replace some of my books by haunting the second hand stores. They are not new but most are in really good condition and I can usually find some old enough to have the original cover art on them.

I have not tried any of the above and is one of the reasons I have entered, I would love the opportunity to be randomly chosen by the randomiser to try one out.

Good, you are doing it right my friend. Keep the randomizer happy, I will let the randomizer know about you.. Hahahahah.
Good luck mate..!!

well, I grew up with my grandparents and it was the only channed I was allowed to watch... when I was little I idolized Morticia, and Wednesday and lilly munster.. it was the only channel they came on! lol. I'm on my third set of bookshelves because the weight of them warp the boards... one of these days I will buy real wood shelves.. as of now I have 4 full, double stacked.. and two rows deep. lol
I was allowed Disney and WB Saturday morning cartoons or I was welcome to watch mom's soaps with her. Otherwise, go read a book or play outside. Usually, the book.

That is one thing dad didn't take. My shelves are solid oak handmade by my grandpa. Technically they're his but I had been using them since I was about 7, and had more books than him.

I have nothing to do with the Randomizer ;)
That's SJ and Neil's baby! I don't even know where they keep the thing

I keep hearing rumors it's in a storage facility in Oddville, KY, somewhere along Hwy 68. Not confirmed, tho...

We either had chores or it was outside in yard. Dad had control of TV and it was Heehaw and Lawrence Welk after the news, then bed. I did get to watch some American Bandstand when dad had to be at the base on Saturdays LOL

warehouse 13 has a spin off called eureka! watch warehouse first...its like a syfy version of law and order, but instead of criminals who do crimes, they are searching for bad guys and artifacts that are dangerous... ooh, like one guy buys edgar allen poes quill, and goes insane using it, and starts reliving poes stories and murdering people, like pit and the pendelium style... and they have to find and save him and get the quill put away
I did watch Eureka but I didn't know it was a spin off. I tell ya....I learn something everyday about all kinds of things on ECF!!

Love the books. It was weird though. I actually saw the movie first (it was on Netflix as I was browsing one day) and googled it. Found out it was a book and poof! There went my spending money. Love the books better. Waiting to see if there's more... I've got one through five, I think.

Also in love with Scott Speer's angel series.
the vampire diaries books were leaps and bounds better than the tv show, the first 4 books, then they made the series, and then the author started writing more books to make them match the show.

I finally broke down and started reading the sookie Stackhouse books.... waaaayyy different than the show true blood... starting book 3 tomorrow...

also, I was forced into reading the harry potter series a couple months ago... much better than the movies, with way more content and behind the sceens info that wasn't in the movies, but the first book was darn near impossible to get through, because of JKR writing ability just wasn't up to snuff yet... however by book 3 she got the hang of it and they got pretty awesome.

Yeah, with the fact that I'm looking for specific cover art, I've found half.com to be useful. I search the book and it shows all iterations. Just figure out which one I'm looking for.

The main problem is just the Pern books alone was probably three dozen. Then you had Heinlein (another couple dozen) and Spider Robinson's Cross Time Saloon series. Plus assorted others like 1446 (I think was the title) and Battlefield Earth.

Westerns on Saturday mornings. Grizzly Adams one evening a week. But hey. we had 3 channels until I was about 10 then we got that new cable.
