I completely agree. I started working on DIY a few months ago. Now that i pretty much have what i need for me, it really has saved me some money also. And I still can't believe how much better my breathing is now
Yes you will. I have found some really great info/sub-forums for things i was interested in learning. and usually someone is always in them to answer question, or will be soon if you ask. I LOVE the people here and I am so thankful I found this place and got the nerve up to join in. Best Choice I ever made.The stories about lurking here mirror me perfectly! I am nervous to get into diy and dripping /building, but I'm sure once I get more integrated into the community I'll make some good connections that'll help me out

This just might be the most active forum I've ever joined... It's nearly 3 am where I live and all my other forums are DEAD. I've promised myself though not to get too caught up in this hobby until I get some business in my real life put in order.

Pulled out a computer that crashed last month to try again at recovering some pics - no luck - I think those folders might have went when trying some of the recovery methods.
Thanks! Same to all! Now I just have to decide whether to sleep or just stay up till I'm actually tired since I've got nothing to do tomorrow/later today.
Were the pictures uploaded recently? Often recovery means the computer resetting to a date it knows everything was OK.
I am afraid that is what happened to mine also. I have 1 other option to try on mine before i know for certain they are gone. just need to clear table off and get it set up to see. What all have you done so far
Pics were uploaded at different times over a few years. Most in a main folder with multiple sub folders.
Recovery attempts were not successful - different methods tried. Machine won't even come up in safe mode. Put in a linuxos disk, came up with that but no sign of the pic folders. Pulled the drive and have it as an external on a laptop but still can't find them.

mine was an external when microsoft decided to do some kind of update on the usb ports. has mine locked up to where all it ever says when plugged in is the screen that pops up and says please insert disck as if it is a cd drive. and tried all other things to try and get it detected right but noting. So not sure if this will help with yours. my last resort was to get an old computer that still has an open internal bay and will put it in there as a slave drive to see if i can access it that way and see if my pics are still on it. Don't know if you might want to try yours that way or not. if you do make sure you set the jumpers to slave drive on it

I don't think Linux whacked them - my bet is either the Dell recovery disk or the onboard MS recovery both of which failed. I kept thinking that I needed to back them up to a cd but never did it.
Had mine external for almost 10yrs thinking it would be safer in case main drive went down. and they used to never screw with anything connected to external through usb and such. guess they decided one day, hey we have messed up the main so much lets shoot for there externals
