I watched, not sure what to think. It wasn't really very informative. The vapers they spoke to rightly sang the praises but as you saw with the shop owner our personal experiences are discredited with "but you're not a clinical professional" and of course there was the obligatory "think of the children" shout. There was nothing in the way of scientific papers that we've all seen and read.

I thought the much the same there was one lady who thought that the ecig could have been responsible for her husbands death but that was the only single case that the reporter could find and I am sure that he would have looked everywhere for some sort of confermation that this was the case and obviosly found none

The wording makes me wonder about that, the doctors report said "the x-ray showed worsening of the lung condition" so wouldn't worsening of it really mean it was a pre-existing condition? He didn't say was caused by e cigs. I mean, of course it's terrible he passed and his wife has my sympathy but didn't we need clarity there rather than implying it a possibility? I understand people sometimes need something to blame but there ya go.

Yeh I watched it too, I think they made it fairly balanced and more against the TV adverts and advertising in general could be seen by kids.

Smoking adverts have been banned for years now so you can understand their concern how making vaping cool to kids and I sort of understand that.

The other side of the argument is that vaping needs to get out their to the general adult public AND the main thing, existing smokers!

I believe vaping will be the new smoking...its the future for sure. I wont guess how long but eventually I think smoking tobacco will eventually be non-existant and probably banned.

Regarding the womans husband that died it did mention oil on the lungs but also said there was no connection that it could of been caused by the e-cig he had only been smoking for 6 months....it probably had alot more to do with he had been a very heavy smoker for 30 years!

They did say at the moment there have found NOTHING dangerous or even slightly concerning about vaping and although full clinical test do need to be done...that can only be a good thing for current vapers.

My feeling is that vaping needs as much publicity as it can get to switch smokers to vaping. If they do find something in trials eventually that are potentially dangerous about vaping at least this danger will become known...I mean I smoked for 20 years knowing it caused all kinds of illness and killed you eventually....ive only managed to stop that by vaping! (3 weeks on tuesday).

I was not impressed. The part featuring a crying woman stating she believes her husband may have died as a result of e-cigs was cringeworthy. She may well have been coached to say he may have died as a result of wearing sandals. She was understandably upset and emotional and just wanted to blame anything other than a lifelong addiction to smoking and bad luck.
The statements from the presenter regarding how dangerous e-cigs could POTENTIALLY be was sensationalism at its worst. Saying something is untested and so could be dangerous is meaningless.
As for the proliferation of e-cig advertising, where is that ? I see more adverts for hemorrhoid cream than for e-cigs. Pretty much the only advertising i see is on dedicated vaping sites.
The programme was pretty much what you would expect for a mass market entertainment show. :(

People need to understand that switching to vaping AFTER you have lung cancer is NOT going to help. I highly doubt that he died due to ecigs, he died because he didn't switch soon enough.

Hmm...on that page there were a few short 2-3 min clips. At bottom was a link https://www.itv.com/itvplayer/tonight then my browser asked me to share my location so I did and then this message came up.

Check availability

Sorry, you won’t be able to play all videos because they’re only available in certain regions. To find out if you can play this video, simply type your postcode below – don’t worry, we won’t keep this information.

So I entered in my zip code...not sure what a postcode is...and it said

Invalid postcode - Please try again

Someone said something earlier about living in the US and how they missed ITV...are we in the US not allowed to watch?

After a few google searches you apparently need an IP Address from the UK to watch the video. I tried entering in a few postal codes that I found on some sites. Had to clear cookies for it to allow me to re-enter the postal code...so unless someone posts to youtube or allows me to remote into their machine in the UK I don't think I can watch :(

ITV and iplayer (BBC) is also off limits to the US but available for free everywhere else. It has to do with our draconian copyright and licensing fee structures. Some people will use a VPN to change their IP to another country and then they can watch fine. Also the Pirate Bay has it; Tonight S16E03

lol on pics. I've subscribed to thread so if someone finds it on youtube in the next couple of days please post.

Off topic...I've heard of proxy servers...but are there public VPN's that you can use that will give you an IP Address located in the UK? FYI I know what a VPN is and use one to connect to my work and a few of our clients networks.

OK so I watched this pile of tripe. Same old BS, different day. Very little actual info on ecigs, and the info that was shared was wrong.

One bit interviewed a woman who is convinced that ecigs killed her husband by giving him pneumonia caused by oil in the lungs. What!? We all know better than this. There is NO OIL in ecigs.

The second half of the program was all about how ecigs are marketed, as well as the same old "Won't somebody think of the children" argument.

Don't even bother watching this garbage. It is just crappy TV being passed off as "journalism."

Just re-posting my view from the UK Forum after watching this program.

"Well... this is not a review, as I don`t feel qualified to do such, but more of an observation.

There were so many inaccuracies, descrepencies and ambiguous reports that it is hard to know where to start!

In the first five minutes of the program the makers tried to do a brief description of how an e-cig works, the description was good enough however the diagram showing the three working parts of a "look alike" model was backwards! naming the cart as the battery and visa versa!

There then followed a quick report by someone from the WHO who kept insisting we don`t know enough about the "Toxins" in an e-cig to tell what long term harm they can do? ( I was unaware of these mythical "Toxins" and know what goes into my DIY e-juice :)

Then something disturbing... a report about a person who`s death "could or could not" be attributed to smoking something like an e-cig.
This was quite vague in telling the viewer exactly what this person was smoking as he was prescribed it by his GP after being a heavy smoker for years.

The post mortem was an open verdict with "suspicions" leading to a rare pneumonia called Lipo- Pneumonia Lipid pneumonia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia thats results from inhaling oil droplets and was common to workers in heavy industry.

Now... where this oil came from was never established accurately however there were lots or references to the oil in e-juice!
This is pure scaremongering I believe as it was never established if this person was actually vaping a generic e-cig or was in fact on a prescription nebuliser using a medical equivilant of e-juice!
The reporter never questioned this and it was just passed over leaving the viewer to assume it was a generic e-cig and common or garden e-juice!

The majority of the last 15mins of the program was aimed at the advertising of e-cigs, mainly the fact that the current advertising can be seen by under 18`s and the concern some Mother had that the 4 kids in the back of her car could hear an e-cig advert on the radio!!
(switch the bloody radio off then love and concentrate on your driving )
The reporter did have a pop at British American Tobacco when allowed into their facility about them being hypocritical and entering the e-cig market purely for profit (but we know that anyway don`t we :) )
A final piece about the up coming EU debate, the fact that we in the UK have another two years to implement any decission and some random doctor moaning that he wants tests and regulation immediately (wonder who you have shares with then? )

All in all....

A non-event full of ambiguous hearsay, urban myth and pure speculation ....... I`m off to have a vape :) "
